Texas no question, but that photo is an abysmal representation. You won't see mountains or canyons like that anywhere in the state except way out by Big Bend, where basically nobody lives, or El Paso where most of the mountains you see are actually in New Mexico. 85-90% of Texans live in the eastern half, which is temperate grassland and southern pines.

Austin sucks almost as bad as Boston, though for very different reasons: it's like somebody copy-pasted Los Angeles and dropped it in the middle of b*ttf*ck nowhere, plus it's home to the overcrowded prisonyard of the public higher education/brainwashing facilities: University of Texas, home of fake cowboys.

I've been a Masshole for the past 21 years. It's not perfect, but it's home and when I fly into Logan, as much as I see the grunge, I FEEL home. I have lived in other places in other parts of the country and in other states and have been driven out by horrible people, but Massachusetts has embraced my weirdness and never once made me feel like an outsider or devalued as a human being the way they have in other states.

I visited Texas once (two years ago—Austin). My Texan host was an absolutely wonderful guy, I liked his house, I liked the restaurant we ate at, the people hanging out smoking dope at the hotel were friendly enough (although really didn't leave a positive impression otherwise), but I think it's just not a place that interests me as somewhere I'd want to live for many of the reasons other people have mentioned.

Also, no scorpions in MA, and any poisonous snakes are only out in the Berkshires.

Austin, TX is my happy place though. Beautiful women, incredible food, and as lively of a bar scene as I’ve experienced. The rest of Texas is my nightmare, I think, lmao.

More because it’s AGGRESSIVELY conservative. It seems like it’s one of those places where a lot of people make their politics their personality. And I feel like anything that smacks of “cowboy culture” wouldn’t mesh well with me, whether that’s me disliking the way others are or them disliking the way I am.

The schools have been going downhill for years. They were just going down the tubes just as my kids graduated , I would put my kids in private school today. People are leaving in droves and they are not the welfare people that are moving out. The last one out , turn out the lights.

I am a water based personality, and love boating. Coastal Massachusetts was beautiful. Sailing Buzzards Bay and the Narragansett at Sunset and Moon rise, with an good wine and KFC.

Massachusetts has the highest per mile cost for road repair in the nation and the roads suck. I drive on a road every day that is so bd that I have driven on backwoods trails that were smoother.
