Is it possible to survive in the USA if you are 5'4" and skinny?

I am 5'4" and only 55 kg. Even in my own country (India) where the average male height is about 5'6" I am always treated like a weakling and like a child. In the USA the average male height is 5'9" so almost 95 percent of men will be taller and bigger than me. I have to go to the USA (New York State) this fall for my master's degree. I feel like no one would be able to take such a small person seriously.

The most confident guy I know was around 5”4 and had a PhD from Yale and Medical Degree from Stanford and his wife was a Surgeon from Stanford, both highly religious and happy and compassionate people. I also know a super confident University of Toronto educated doctor who is 5”4, also highly religious and unbelievably smart.
