Which country or city in the world has the best beaches?

My family has lived in this area since 1790, so I am very biased, but I think the beaches in my hometown are beautiful. We have a state park which is a coastal island, owned entirely by the State of Florida, not developed, the beach is all white sand, very wide, and I can always find private spots on the beach.

Pretty much any country with a decent amount of coastline and sand, has very good beaches. What makes it the best beach will vary between people, for me I like it empty of people. Any that are full of people or have over 30 on it over a mile or so is not good.

Every few months some website produces a "worlds best beach" list. It seems sooner or later every beach ends up on one of these lists. Then that quiet pretty cove gets swamped with tourists and looks a shithole.

I think West Palm Beach was the best I have seen.

That is open to a lot of personal preference. I've been to beaches in California, Florida, Hawaii, Mexico, Honduras, Greece, Thailand, Australia, Vietnam, and tiny islands in the Pacific. Hard to say what was best.
