Classy is a word used to describe people, places or things, that have a lot of "class." But a classy person isn't just someone who wears expensive clothes. Classy can also refer to someone who puts a high standard on the way he behaves. For example: A classy gentleman open doors for ladies.

One of my close friends, who came to Canada from the San Francisco area as a lad, vistied Liverpool in the nineties. When the bartender asked him if he were American, and my bud said ,"No," the bartender replied,"Sorry I INSULTED you, sir." This is but one example of how Americans are vied in other countries, even their British cousins.
