How widespread is the ladyboy problem in Thailand?

I wanted to see the rocks and ruins, and I thought the ladyboys were only endemic to Phuket, but I've read reports of ladyboy encounters in Bangkok and even as far north as Chiang Mai. Maybe there aren't any in Ayuthaya and Khao Sok, but you have to travel through and possibly even sleep in ladyboy habitat, to get to those places. What are my chances of encountering one?

Is it better to go to Vietnam for rocks and ruins. The ruins aren't as nice, but there doesn't seem to be a ladyboy problem there.

Ladyboy "problem". From the question alone I know you despise them. That's the thing I like about you Kostas; you don't hold back, you let the world know how you feel about things. :) Far too many people pretend, and lie to themselves about all sorts of things, but you're like me, you could never do that.

i've heard that in a lot of big cities especially bangkok it's common to see them. like you might see a couple in a day if you're in the more busy areas

Maybe I can go to Vietnam for the rocks and still see the ruins in Thailand, but only stay for a couple days instead of doing a trip just to Thailand, because I don't think they hang out at the ruins

The only problem with them is some are pickpocketing in touristy areas (coming up for hugs, then stealing your phone). The large majority of them are just everyday people.

Exactly, that is disgusting! The hugging part to me is even worse than the pick pocketing part.

With "everyday people" I mean they are just strangers on the streets, in the shops, on the traina... not interested in bothering you or being bothered by you.

You have the wrong priorities, trust me. You will be actively bothered and lied to by shop hustlers, tuk-tuk drivers, fortune tellers, hookers, street scammers... all of which are truly annoying. I did not really enjoy my Thailand holidays because of these. The (few) ladyboys I noticed were just a minor detail in the background.

That's all funny and all, but the problem is you don't recognize the hustlers and scammers and they can see you from a mile away. Parts of this country are a major drag on introverts.

I know. Trust me, I know. They're two-faced. And people like that have ruined entire holidays for me. It's always the most beautiful and interesting countries that have the shittiest people. And some of them are so persistent. The best thing you can do is not let them lure you in to begin with, because once they have you, there's no winning them.
I love traveling and exploring new places, but like you said, after a while it gets exhausting constantly being harassed and scammed. Travel is suppose to make you more tolerant, but these assholes can make it have the opposite effect.
I refuse to visit the sovereign islands in the Caribbean anymore, and will only visit the European islands, because I got tired of getting harassed and swindled by locals.
Turkey for instance has virtually no street crime, because they will rob you another way.
Then certain nationalities wonder why people are racist against them
