Plus, courtship is really just sanctioned prostitution. Guy buys girl dinner, gives her jewelry, she gives him sex.

Prostitutes of both genders exist for the same reason: everybody wants sex, but not everyone can tolerate the people they want to have sex with. There's an old adage about prostitutes that you're not paying for sex, you're paying them to leave.
