      I wouldn't consider those monuments

If we're going by the official definition of a monument that I posted on RebellinSteel's post, then definitely museums, 'cuz there's more variety.

If "monuments" also include things like forts and ancient ruins, the monuments

MUSEUMS. I like both but museums is a history book with pop up pictures from the real time lol. Monuments feel too short for my taste but still a nice and quick treat in passing. And if we want to get technical. It’s possibly the monuments if historical and not newer, would have some type of excerpt on the actual monument describing the symbolism and the history behind that. It would be the words written in stone and un-tampered with. Not modified. Meanwhile info pieces displayed in museums could have some bias or lack detail and clarity because of frequent editing/modification.

But it’s also possible for the monument to hold bias perspective in description of the piece, than a truthful and more generalist approach.

    But

better to read bias than to read made up things. Or simply a bit far-fetched.

    Museums.

When I think of monuments, I think of statues or edifices that were erected to memorialize someone or some event. I've seen quite a few and they are worthy of admiration, but they are mostly photo ops.

I do love visiting ancient structures, places, and things that were built hundreds or thousands of years ago. That might be my favorite.
I've had a great time doing that in Mexico (Tulum), England (Stonehenge), France and Germany (castles, ancient towns, churches and cathedrals.

In Ireland, I not only visited museums, Newgrange, bee hive huts, reconstructed, wooden fort settlements, ancient stone forts, monasteries and cathedrals. But there are pre-Christian things like stone circles, dolmens and ogham stones just scattered around and taken for granted. I love Irish history and culture.

I would love to visit Iran, Iraq (if the U. S. didn't destroy everything), Turkey, Syria and Egypt. There are many, many other places, too.

Love both but I prefer vising monuments for the historical aspect. There's something special in visiting a place with more than 2000 years.

I think museums tend to trade their collection to keep people coming. I prefer to see monuments

I love museums and art galleries. We have the Laguna Art Walk, Bowers, a Guggenheim Gallery at Chapman University nearby, and the LA County Museum of Art, The Getty< and a slew of otrhers are not super far.

Not so much museums but historic sites. I've been to Stonehenge and numerous Native/Indian sites.
