I visited these islands just 2 months ago! I VISITED THEM! I met the people who call these islands home! I MET THEM! And I saw the island they're evacuating! I SAW IT! It's crazy to think these islands may disappear within my lifetime!

In a few decades, these pictures may be some of the only records that remain of the islands.

What do you think? Will these islands be a great loss? Are you gonna try to visit them before they disappear forever?

In Poland, we have a region that is below sea level... close to the seashore... they already talk about evacuating the whole region because the sea level is slowly changing

They aren't, but they still have their charm.
Panama is actually very interesting, but the people are very shitty and stupid.

Pretty much. The islands have the highest rate of albinism on earth and no one knows why, and they're the only ones allowed outside during lunar eclipses to fight a dragon they believe is trying to eat the moon.

Interesting. Well I searched and I guess these islands have an indigenous population, I had heard before that many indigenous cultures held superstitious beliefs about eclipses.

It's a good thing that at least they're respected there unlike in some African communities where they are hunted and dismembered by witches. I don't remember exactly if it's because they are seen as evil or used in some type of healing ritual by witch doctors. Maybe both, but all I know for sure is they're hunted or harassed in some places there.

Were the indigenous Panamanians nicer in your experience than the general population in Panama?

Yeah. They settled there after being pushed out of Colombia by the Spaniards. And the Panamanian government tried to eradicate them and take the islands for themselves, but an American anthropologist and politician helped then get autonomy.

Doesn't surprise me, unfortunately many of these countries complain about the Spaniards but then their governments go on to treat their Indigenous populations very poorly themselves. And they're often seen as inferior by the societies.
That's why I don't blame some of the Indigenous activists who criticize Mestizos that claim to be Indigenous without really learning about the different cultures and their struggles. (Mind you some claim Aztec heritage in my family's state when we actually come from the Chichimecas)

I saw a Mexican guy on YouTube claim that Mexicans build Chichen Itza😂 It's so easy to tell when someone is insecure and has an inferiority complex because they take credit for other people's accomplishments

But my favorite are 95% Chilean Mestizos who claim their White 😂

I think people who are at least around half Indigenas by DNA or more have a right to learn about their ancestor's culture and feel proud of their heritage, but only IF they actually bother to learn about it. They also shouldn't forget than many of these communities have their own lifestyles so it's not the same to have ancestry as actually living it.

I thought you had to be an enrolled tribal memer to claim benefits.

As for the Native civilizations of Mexico, I think that what's now Mexico (or we could say Mesoamerica which includes modern day Central American countries-not all of Mexico is Mesoamerican either) was always destined to be great as we can see multiple advanced and interesting civilizations in it's history such as the Mayas, Aztecs, Olmecs but one can be proud of the past but must foremost focus on the present that they're living.

Mexicans have always had a great work ethic, a Mexican will usually get the job done without complaining, so there's still drive there - but I think Mexico needs to fix many of the societal and governmental problems it has. And I think we need to focus on working smart, not just hard.

It all starts with individual achievements. That's the most important, I can be proud but won't focus on what my ancestors or my people do. I have to focus on myself and make my own way.

Mayan and Aztec were different from modern Mexicans though. You never hear anyone use the term "ancient Mexicans"

As for the work ethic thing, Chicanos are different than Mexicans in Mexico. I can confirm that Yucatan Mexicans don't have good work ethic😂

There's only a handful of ethnic Mayans left. One of our guides was telling us how the later kings killed off the smart Mayans and only left the stupid Mayans. It's stupid how they have no oral record of their history. They shouldn't have relied solely on codexes. Mayan ballgame was played for 3000 years and no one knows the rules. I'm starting to think maybe it didn't even exist, because surely the Spanish would have made some record of it.

Argentinans are Mestizos, are you kidding me? 98% of Argentinans are ethnic Europeans, mostly Italians and Germans.

Argentina is the Whitest country outside of Europe and even Whiter than most European countries.

I never really looked into their demographics but many of them look Mestizo. I wouldn't call it a white country nor a mestizo one, same as I wouldn't for Brazil, just a diverse country. Same thing as Cuba and Puerto Rico that has many whites but also many non whites
