I had to flee from a wildfire a few days ago that was threatening my neighborhood. We grabbed as much as we could and bolted. We spent the first night in our cars at a gas station parking lot, and the second night we went to a hotel in the neighborhoring town. Our city was like a ghost town. There was only one store open. The gas station charged me $50 for some chicken and sandwiches, but the bar next door gave people free food and beverages.
