Have you ever experienced a natural disaster or otherwise extremely severe weather?

Where i grew up tornadoes were common in my youth. I was fascinated by them and didn’t respect enough just how dangerous they were. I remember my family cowering in the basement during a tornado warning and when it was all over, we went outside to find that some of our things had been swept away and some of our neighbors’ things were in our yard. The nearest neighbor was a quarter mile away. We spent the afternoon trading back with our neighbors and searching for our other stuff. It was the closest i have ever been and didn’t get to see it firsthand! I have seen two other tornadoes form and one touched down but they were both far off in the distance.

Outside of ice storms and blizzards... being Canadian those rarely count...

My family went through a tornado when I was really young (5 or 6). I don't remember it in full detail but I do remember getting woken up from bed and rushed into the basement. I also remember the sounds.

My grandfather took pictures of the aftermath.

Our side of the street remained relatively untouched aside from debris and broken windows but the houses on the other side of the street were completely torn apart.

I'm told the military came into the city and locked everything down. The only people allowed to move about the city were volunteers and emergency personal.

i've been in little-ish earthquakes, so there's a big one coming, my parents were in Northridge and Whittier and they felt Loma Prieta all the way from LA 🤷‍♀️
