Does anyone else try to avoid going on vacation during school holidays?

When you have kids there's little choice. If you don't have kids - GREAT. Book outside of the holidays!!

As a parent I think it so unfair how they bump the costs up three times the price!

Lucky for me... my oldest is uni age now. And my younger, 12, is being home schooled. First thing I did was book a holiday to Corfu outside of the school holidays! We don't have to care about that now 🥰

I find it strange as well, because you would think the reverse would be true. That they would lower the prices when there's more demand, and raise them when there is lower demand to make up. It's strange, because the places that aren't popular with tourists are always so expensive, while the places that get a lot of tourists are always cheaper. So you would think the same principle would be applied to the number of people visiting popular tourist destinations.

It also means poorer families can't go away or have to take their kids out of school which further lowers their kids chance of a good education. And visiting other cultures is a healthy childhood education that should be encouraged.
Funny tho how cheapest adult holidays tend to be ones that centre on sex and booze.

I don't avoid it but in my team are people with small kids so they are first to have accepted paid time off because of closed schools and Kitas... as their manager I cover this time, when they are off

I mean, when I was in school, I didn't have a choice as it was the only time I had off, but now that I'm out of school, I have the opportunity to travel in the off season. Though sometimes I can still find cheap deals during vacation season, even too popular places. But the Caribbean for instance, is cheaper during the summer.
