How do I get out of going on a family holiday?

Basically my parents have arranged a holiday but never asked me if I wanted to go and now have just told me I'm going.

but I really don't want to because I have as levels coming up after the holidays and I really just want to stay home and learn cos otherwise I will have to drag all my books away and I just don't want to spend all this time with family cos they will just stress me out.

i asked my dad if I had to go and he said it would be fine if I found somewhere to stay for the week. but then a few days later he changed his mind and said if I wasn't going then none of my family are and they will have lost 2000 quid. But its up to me. That's not even a choice. That's blackmail. I'm 17 and I just don't see how they can force me to go especially if I find somewhere to stay.

So can anyone give me any advice to calmly get it through to my parents and persuade them to let me not go. I mean I wish they would just lay off and accept I'm growing up cos soon I won't be coming to any family holiday

and I said I would definitely come to the next family holiday but just this one is bad timing.

Simply tell them that as much as you would like to you have studying to do. The course load is very taking. You need to make the grade. Tell them to understand & you look forward to going to the next one.

Any rebuttals; School is very important right now. I love my family but right now I must get this work done so that I can get the GPA that I need to get into the college that I want.

You sound very responsible what's wrong with staying at home?

Find a place to stay & tell him that you allready did that when he first told you.

You should go. My family goes on vacation every year and there was many times that I did not want to go. But I now know that I should appreciate these moments with my family because as I get older they become less and less. It's a free trip why not go? You can study in the car/plane and have fun. You need to think about your family, this is supposed to be a family trip. It wouldn't be the same without you. Can you honestly say you need an entire week of non stop studying? I've had to write papers on the airplane before, and reschedule exams, but I can say it was well worth it for all the experiences I've had.

Hi this kind of thing has happened to be before and what I did was show my parents how much staying at home meant to me and I also made a compromise that I would call them every night. It is your parents decision to not go if you won't , if they really wanted to go they would have let you stay. Say that to your dad and maybe talk to a teacher in your school about it, get another opinion.

But make sure to stay calm, you want to show them that you are responsible to stay at home.
