Would you prefer to ride in a plane or fly the plane?

I've often thought it would be cool to learn to fly, but even in those times when I've had the money (well, SOME of the money; it ain't cheap) for lessons, I've been far too heavy. For reasons that actually make a fair bit of sense, everyone trains on tiny Cessna 172s and Robinson R22s and the like; given that you'd need an instructor in there with you, I'd need to drop down to a for-my-size unhealthily low weight to make it feasible.

If they trained on 747s, or, say, Apaches, it'd be a different story. But they don't, so I'm limited to passenging.

Oh, and in case the thought occurs to you: yes, there IS a third branch of aircraft. There's fixed-wing (planes), rotary-wing (helicopters), and what-the-hell-is-a-wing (blimps), but in the US, all three categories use the same base license, so I couldn't get around it that way.

Also, I'm pretty sure they don't actually refer to dirigibles as "what-the-hell-is-a-wing" aircraft, but it amuses me, so that's what I do.

If I knew how to fly one I'd probably want to be the pilot, but since I don't, I prefer riding with someone who does know how to fly one!

I have one dream destined never to be fulfilled. That is to fly a B-2 Stealth Bomber.. I suppose IF I could just have a ride in one I would be contented, but to fly one? That would be a dream come true!
