Need advice for new (used) car, can anyone help with the decission?

For context we live in germany and my wife starts a new Job, for 2 years, about 40km away.

We need a fuel efficient car, thats reliable and lasts long. Most of the driving takes place on the Autobahn, which is blocked by Traffic jam in the afternoon.

Our two Favourites are currently:
Toyota Yars Hybrid fuel efficient as hell, but not on Autobahn. But in the traffic jams and within the city. Costs used about 18k€.

Hyndai i10, regular gas powered car, fuel efficient yes, but still 1L/100km more than the Yaris. But costs 5k less, about 13k€ used.

I10 costs 200€ less in insurance, so over the next 2 years the overall costs are about the same. After that we are not sure where my wife will work, if she works in the closest big city, the Yaris will be cheaper with barely 3L/100km.

Also Yaris is automatic transmission, much easier and comfortable to drive. Which is good if she sits in the car over an hour long per day.

Also anyone knows which built year we should look for?

As far as i see both cars were updated into the next generation in 2020.

honda auto all the way,,, pleasure to drive, superb reliability used but full service history, under mileage ideally, i would look around for an older person giving up, an hours drive your wife for absolute sure come in that door at the end of the day, less affected by driving stress purely from the auto... my father taught me amazing things in my life from childhood, one about driving, during that hour before and after a long working day, it is actively working her brain. your brain is receiving a thousand fold more information to process than you ever are allowed to realise, because you literally couldnt cope, its like this all the time but driving, just imagine all that information coming in through your whole peripheral vision,,, i have witness proof of this if you look up derren brown experiment bank robbery... from personal point i suffered a bit with sciatica in left hip which is clutch and town or stop start driving is awful, so she may not suffer as i but it shows the effort of the body again... dude get the auto, it can only benefit you both, her welfare, physically and mentally allows more energy for herself and therefore the two of you together, i truly hope you get to read and understand this, and i would like to express your wife reads this too, xx

You need a diesel. 1.6 vw Golf, seat Leon, fabia or Audi A3.
Hymdai I10 is OK.
The new yaris are bigger. You gotta think of safety. You do not want to crash in a small car. I work for the fire service and would hate the thought of my wife in a very small car. Having been involved in cutting people out of cars no matter what car manufacturers say, small cars are not safe outside of the city or town.
I've a 1.6 seat Leon 2017 diesel eco drive. I don't pay road tax on it, insurance isn't high though insurance companies these days just charge what they want regardless because of the high claims. Very reliable, it's basically a vw Golf but cheaper and more reliable. I've to date had few problems with it.

Look at the lease price of a full Electric such as Hyundai Iconiq,

I worked it out at about 13,000 miles (20k km) which would be a 15k (25k km) miles lease.

Work out your total fuel costs, I used 260 days working in a year.

it may work out that most of the lease price is covered by the fuel you would have used, electric is cheap.

I'd say the i10 has less that could go seriously wrong being that it's not a hybrid nor automatic
