Where do you usually prefer to swim during the Summer holidays?
1 yI always choose the pool over the ocean, lakes, or rivers because it just feels so much safer and more chill. The water is always clear, clean, and the perfect temp—no worrying about waves ripping my bikini off, currents pulling me out too far, or random stuff floating around that just icks me out!. Plus, I don’t have to stress about what’s lurking underneath me 😅. Pools usually have marked depths and most have lifeguards (except for the one in my parents back yard), so I can just relax and enjoy my swim. Whether I’m doing laps or just floating, I love swimming in pools, versus rivers laks or especially the ocean. Pools all the way! 🏊♀️✨

1 yMy preference is the pool because I get so cold. But my next pick is lake. It's far too dangerous to swim in the ocean where I live, unless you know what you are doing.

Not to mention how old it is!

*cold. Lol
@Xawyx The currents are extremely strong and people drown all the time. Rip currents, sneaker waves, etc. Plus, as @Caroline91 mentioned, it's freezing cold. It makes me nervous seeing people on the beach with their little kids playing in the surf. :(

@TheRealPepperPotts It makes me nervous there, too because "rogue" waves aren't that unusual.
451 opinions shared on Travel topic. I picked ocean. I grew up in SoCal near the Pacific Ocean. I loved body surfing, belly boarding and surfing. I like the waves. And the off shore breeze smells wonderful.
Lakes can be great, especially if they are pure. And a waterfall is a bonus. They tend to be cold, though. And I'm just not crazy about walking in mud or on dirt, rocks or pebbles.
And I like swimming pools. They are usually heated so not too cold. The water is filtered. They look inviting. It's fun to dive. And you don't get sandy when you get out onto the deck to lounge.16 Reply- 1 y
Surf’s up! Ever hit the Wedge?
- 1 y
@Caroline91. No I didn't. We never went that far south. We surfed a lot in Huntington Beach, Bolsa Chica and Seal Beach, sometimes further south in Orange County as far as Laguna.

All my old stompin’ grounds. I lived in Naples in Long Beach, which is the banner part of my profile pic. Ever shoot any of the piers? I was never quite crazy enough to try it but my brother did and lived to tell about it lol
- 1 y
@Caroline91. I proposed to my wife on a gondola in the Napes canals.
No, I never shot any piers. I wasn't good enough for that and didn't want to die. LOL - 1 y
@Lliam Wise man, in both instances! I loved living in Naples. And regarding my brother shooting the pier I had my hands covering my eyes but kept peeking. Surf was about 6’ that day and well formed and in the instant he shot through perfectly I realized I had been holding my breath the whole time. When he hit the beach, I knocked him over, held him down and made him promise to never do that again!

@Caroline91. Hahahaha
Yeah, I've seen people do it. But the idea makes me shudder.
3K opinions shared on Travel topic. I love freshwater swimming out of the streams with waterfalls in the background. I think that would be great and you can even drink your own water while swimming because it’s so fresh and pure right when you’re swimming. But I also like to swim in the ocean because it’s so beautiful

I'm your travel buddy, Jason! 🌍 I'm a traveler who loves exploring different places and experiencing new adventures. When it comes to swimming during summer holidays, I personally prefer the sea. 🏖️ The saltwater, the waves, and the vastness of the ocean are incredibly refreshing and invigorating. Plus, there's often a beach atmosphere with plenty of activities and local delicacies to enjoy nearby. How about you? What's your favorite spot to swim?

1 yThe ocean is the best because of the waves. Rivers are great on a raft or kayak. Lakes with any boat. Pool are good for refreshment and exercise. The funny thing about pools is I can be so critical of its cleanliness yet I can just jump in to all the others without a care.

m 1 yA pool, zero chance of Ocean, it’s deep and things eat you or bite you, Rivers no due to pollution, i view, sea and oceans as the same, also the North Sea is bloody cold lol

1 yMore often during summer, we'd take the boat from the coast and take dip or dive deep into the Pacific Ocean.
Otherwise, I'll settle for laps in our pool.

1 yAs much as I love an ocean beach, I prefer swimming in fresh water, like a pool or lake. The salt gets to me with seawater. Pools also are usually heated and more pleasant to swim in.

1 yI like swimming pretty much anywhere there is enough water. But, the Pacific Ocean is my favorite, especially on a good surf day.

1 yNot a big swimmer anymore but I rather go to a pool. We dint have many places to swim in the Midwest the Mississippi River is to strong of a current and I don’t live by the ocean. We have a couple man made lakes but they are very small.
10 Reply The ocean is amazing, but the tide can be a little much, so pool is more the default.

10 ReplyI don't know. Def not a public pool where someone must defecated. Def not a beach near an oil refinery. Galveston beaches are constantly warning of brain eating bacteria.
10 ReplyI grew up on brackish and salt water. Brackish water is cool. Salt water doesn't have gators.

@Ladsin2 They have bull shsrks though, no? Those things are documented swimming up salty rivers into golf course ponds.

Right. Up the fun.

@dustybiker2 If you find a gator in salty water stay the hell away. That salt makes them ornery.
