It depends. Girls tend to talk the most so I’d think them two together would be best. Two if I hadn’t seen my friend in a while it might be nice to catch up w him. Three, if my girl’s friend doesn’t know my friend it may be a little awkward. Maybe my friend isn’t the best looking dude but she’s gorgeous, her friend might feel uncomfortable if he’s trying to talk to her. She may take it as he’s trying to hit on her. Same can be said for my friend. If he’s cute, she’s not she may try to flirt e him. Plus I’m w my girl all the time if I’m not at work. She doesn’t work, so it’s not like we don’t see each other for a long time. Not to mention on a long road trip she always falls asleep after a while. So yes I’d like someone to stay up w especially late at night if I’m driving that can be another set of eyes.

For a long trip, that works. Let the girls talk and tell their stories while the guys occasionally chat about sports.

For a short trip, swap My friend and My girlfriend so we are properly paired up but the girls can still see each other and gab.

No, I’d want my girlfriend next to me so we can spend time together and it would work out for my friend because they would be seated next to their girlfriend.

This isn’t about friend or girlfriend being put first / loyalty or some crap, it is about love. When you love someone, you want them by your side… I want my lover next to me.

I think it depends on who is closer. If the gfs are friends also and y'all just recently started dating, then sure. But even if you and your friend are from childhood, if the gfs don't know each other, then don't make them sit next to a stranger. Sit next to your gfs. After getting to know each other better maybe people will want to try a different arrangement then.
