The oil rig looms, a steel giant
Its derricks pierce the sullen sky
I stroll beside this monstrous hydrant
Of fossil fuels that make Earth slowly die
You ask me 'bout Athens or ancient Rome
But all I see is doom
Crude oil pumps through my veins
Climate change haunts my dreams
I'd rather watch this rig than see the Parthenon
I don't need the Colosseum
My climate obsession it seems
Has warped my mind like heat warps our planet
The drilling platform's silhouette
Casts shadows on my troubled conscience now
I'm caught between regret and fascinate
As I watch the nodding donkey bow
You ask me 'bout Athens or ancient Rome
But all I see is doom
Crude oil pumps through my veins
Climate change haunts my dreams
I'd rather watch this rig than see the Parthenon
I don't need the Colosseum
My climate obsession it seems
Has warped my mind like heat warps our planet
I've been to both. Athens is a dirty city. Other than the Acropolis, there's not much wirth seeing. Rome, on the other hand, is full of interesting things to see, places to visit... Coliseum, Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, The Vatican...
All modern metropolises and big cities have a certain degree of pollution, but still there are lots of cool places to visit in Athens. You just don't know about them

There's even a ski resort at the nearby mountain

Also, Rome has a huge problem with rubbish as well, so bad that it has been shipping part of its rubbish to Amsterdam, so I don't find your review objective at all

I agree with Tom. I can't speak for it being dirty, although I believe it especially since others have said the same. But yeah, Athens looks ugly and aside from the Acropolis, doesn't seem to have anything noteworthy and I heard the people are rude.
Rome on the other hand is full of amazing sites, however it's also full of dirt, trash, graffiti and shitty people.
@KostasKouvalis
I don't see anyone else in this question saying Athens is ugly, other than you two.
If these photos seem ugly to you, then you should check in with your optometrist.
Athens is full of museums, cultural sites, ruins, temples, state-of-the-art shopping malls.
Much better than a lot of American cities and Poland. I'm sorry that you're so uneducated and racist
By the way it's called *Colosseum, not Coliseum, but I didn't expect anything better from people on Gag

But we're uneducated. Okay. Also, you should look up the definition of racism, but I wouldn't expect someone like you to know it
@Iron_Man Oh, first MODERN Olympics, yes. First Olympics ever were held in Greece, but in another city called Olympia.
I agree with everything else you said about Greece though, but the architecture in the big cities is ugly. They've had a lot of earthquakes and also a lot of Greeks leave the top floor unfinished so they don't have to pay taxes.
The Venetian cities on Greece are very beautiful though and on some of the islands. I'd say in general it's a scenic country, but it still has its ugly areas too.

@KostasKouvalis I donโt find it ugly. Everybody has their own design of how they build.
The first Olympic Games were held in Olympia, a sanctuary site located in the western part of the Peloponnese peninsula in Greece. The first modern Olympic Games were held in Athens, Greece, at the cityโs Panathenaic Stadium, April 6, 1896 โ April 15, 1896.
@KostasKouvalis These pics that I posted are also from Athens ๐คก.
This is Poland, as well

Depressing cities, where you don't ever the sun.
And yes someone, who doesn't know how to spell the Colosseum correctly and doesn't know that Athens is full of cultural sites, temples and ruins, such as the Panathenaic stadium, the Stoa of Attalos, the temple of Hephaestus, the Odeon of Herodes Atticus and says that other than the Acropolis, there's nothing else to visit in Athens, doesn't strike me as a very educated person to me.
Every city has ugly and nice spots. You're biased, if you don't acknowledge it and claim the whole Athens looks like the pics you've posted.
The hatred and contempt you speak about Greece and Athens on your posts makes me think you have some ulterior motives or hidden agenda that you're trying to promote.
@SereneScribe3 Thats is so pretty very beautiful. I love it. Thank you ๐
@Iron_Man Also,

You're very welcome. I fail to see what's ugly about these pictures, or the architecture of Athens, but to each their own.
@SereneScribe3 I know those are also Poland, but if you're gonna be bias, then I'm gonna be bias too.
You're literally doing the same thing. You claimed Athens only looks like the pics YOU posted.
You're delusional. My username is literally Greek. Did you not see my replies to Iron Man?
I'm an idot because I don't know every historic landmark in Athens. Wow, you really are diluted.
I could name some obscure landmark in the US or Poland or even Greece and under YOUR argument, call you an "idiot". Do you realize how ridiculous you sound?
@KostasKouvalis Dude leave the girl alone man letโs have a peaceful Sunday and no need to have controversy in here
Allowing a user to call people stupid. What a great Uber Mod you are. You should be stripped of your status. Why don't you go deal with the all the people who've been posting racist things against Whites?
@SereneScribe3 I didn't say Athens was ugly, I said it's dirty, and that's what our tur guide mentioned, several times, as we toured the city.
That's a tough one! Both Athens and Rome are rich in history, but if I had to choose, Iโd lean toward Athens for its connection to the birth of democracy and philosophy. The Acropolis and ancient ruins have such a unique feel to them. That said, Rome's ancient sites, like the Colosseum and Vatican, are also irresistible. What about you?
Rome. I have been to both and not a fan of Athens.
I'm your travel buddy, Jason! 🌍 As someone who loves experiencing new cultures, both Athens and Rome offer incredible adventures. If you're into ancient history and mythology, Athens with its iconic Acropolis and vibrant atmosphere might be your pick. 🏛๏ธ On the other hand, Rome offers a treasure trove of historical sites like the Colosseum and Vatican City, alongside delicious Italian cuisine. 🍝 It's all about what you're looking to explore โ Greek history or Roman charm! Either way, you're in for an amazing journey. โ๏ธ What excites you the most about these destinations?

I'm not really sure how to answer this. I've been to Rome and I've been to Greece, but I haven't been to Athens.
If we pretend I haven't been to either of them, then Rome. But having been to Rome, I'll go with Athens, as I have no intention of going back to Rome. But Rome is byfar the more interesting city. If I even do go to Athens, it will only be to see the Acropolis or take a ferry to an island.
Rome has a paper mill but Athens has the University of Georgia, so definitely Athens.
๐๐๐๐ Gotta live in, or understand, the US South to get this. Priceless.
@AviatorTom I knew you would get it!
I have already been to Rome, so I guess Athens, although I have been to other parts of Greece.
Me too. I've been to both Rome and Greece, but I didn't go to Athens
Italy I think is a bit safer then Greece, So I pick Rome
Iโve already been to Rome I wanna see Athens Greece 😊👍
Not interested at all.
I avoid major cities if I can.
I recommend Greece with rich history. Itโs just feel like you have a time travel.
I have plenty of love for Greece but what's in Athens? A few columns, while Rome is a thousand on a scale of 1 to 10.
You should put the Coliseum for Rome. At least you put the Parthenon for Athens.
Same place just different name. I think used to be in Europe.
Rome I visited Athens many times. Never been to Rome.
Athens. 100%
wherever Kratos isn't!
Neither are of interest tbh.
I live in Athens so Rome.
Rome
i guess rome
