I’d say definitely bring a game with you; in case WiFi doesn’t work or you wanna take a break from the busyness. Definitely if it’s international, check with your phone company about calls and texts. They charge differently outside the U. S. and get some medicine that helps for upset stomach and sea sickness. A lot of people say they don’t get sick on sea but sometimes they do; so get some to be safe

1 ySpend some time to familiarize yourself with the ship. Where is your room? Restaurant? Pool? Theater? It's easy to get lost on a cruise ship.
Check the day's activities each day, either via the app or the daily paper your cabin steward delivers to your room. There are lots of interesting things to do onboard.
Learn your cabin steward. Talk to them, and don't be afraid to ask them questions. They know a lot about the ship.

I'm your travel buddy, Jason! I love exploring new places and experiencing different cultures, just like you’re about to with your first cruise trip! 🛳️ For a smooth sailing experience, here are some tips:
1. Packing Essentials: Bring motion sickness remedies. Pack comfortable clothes for excursions and formal wear for evening dinners. Don't forget power adapters and a travel-sized laundry kit!
2. Onboard Strategy: Book specialty dining in advance. Attend orientation events to familiarize yourself with amenities.
3. Communication: Wi-Fi can be pricey. Consider a cruise plan or stick to offline activities.
4. Excursions Research: Plan and book excursions ahead to avoid missing out on popular activities. 🗺️
5. Relax & Enjoy: Don’t over-schedule. Leave time to relax and enjoy the ocean views. 🌊

Asker1 yright i don’t think i’ll be one of those careless or suicidal people but thanks for the tip i guess…
Anonymous(36-45)1 y1. DEFINITELY make sure you set your watch to the cruise ship time. They do not operate on "your time," and will leave you behind kicking and screaming if you are not there for boarding time in the various ports. When you leave the ship, check with the crew or the signage what time it is on their watch AND plan to arrive at least 30 minutes before that time just to be safe.
2. TRUST ME, pack these. Your room will not have a ton of outlets. Bring a ship approved set of extra outlet plugs. Magnetic hooks to hang items in the room, water bottle with filter, water shoes, hat/sunscreen, lanyard/lanyard wallet for your room key/other essentials, travel clothesline to hang swimsuits to dry, luggage locks, portable phone charger, waterproof phone case, smallish empty bag for any souvenirs and things you pick up.
3. Bring some sea sickness medication. Even if you don't think you'll be sea sick, out there on the open ocean, you don't want to find out. Buy it before your trip because the upcharge on board for these is ridiculous.
4. If you plan on drinking/eating a lot, actually get the drink/meal package which may save you money on board in the long run.
5. Crime does still happen on cruise ships. Make sure you are watching your personal belongings on and off the ship, don't accept drinks from strangers, don't let anyone that is not traveling with you, know your room number, check to see if anyone is following you towards your room, go to clubs and bars with someone else. Basic stuff. It can be a struggle to get anyone to help/listen to your complaints about crimes on and off board, so watch out for you and yours.
6. Don't overpack/check the weather. There simply isn't enough room for it. Pack smart. Pick clothes in like 3 different colors so everything goes with everything and you don't just pack the one top that doesn't match anything else. Make sure you check cruise ship dress codes (some restaurants/events require certain attire or have fun dress codes). Make sure closer to your boarding time you review the weather and pack accordingly.
7. Beware of your spending: Make sure you understand tipping rules on board (a lot of cruise lines already add a mandatory tip to your bill at the bar). Excursions need to be pre-booked and paid for, spas are extra, photo packages, understand the pricing for certain on board restaurants, events, and activities prior to your cruise because they can add up really quickly! Also know that as soon as you land at a port, everyone there will be trying to sell you something and because these places are literally designed as money grabs and tourist traps, you might find yourself spending more than you realized for trinket souvenirs, tours, restaurants, or off board experiences.
8. Pre-purchase on board wifi which will likely be cheaper than if you buy it on board, and if you want better internet strength because they can be really weak, use it closer to the center of the ship for better speeds.
9. Come EARLY your first day, so you can embark as fast as you can, and take a walk around the ship while its not as full and hectic. Learn where the all inclusive stuff is, first aid, activities and bars you plan to visit are located. You'll also want to take the stairs your first day as elevators tend to be full and take a long time.
I hope that helps you. Keep watching online videos especially ones centered around the ship you'll be traveling on from people who have done it, and watch a bunch of "my first cruise, what I learned" style videos that can help you have a better time.21 Reply
Asker1 yThank you hun!
1. If you like cocktail drinks, you might be disappointed since cruise bartenders usually put way too much ice to fill your glass which leads you to finish your drink very soon, prompting you to order another (and another).
2. Oftentimes, cruise bartenders are instructed to put less of your liquor of choice if you’re not watching them make your drink. It’s better to sit in the bar and pretend you like getting fascinated with the way they make your cocktails. They’ll feel proud enough to prompt them to avoid making you a lackluster cocktail.
3. All their beverages on tap are watered down. If you want a beer or a soda, get the bottled or canned ones.
4. Depending on how you feel about it, you might be lucky or unlucky to be on that random Carnival cruise that hosts a meet and greet for naturists (nudists) on the top deck of the ship.00 Reply
1 yWhile I think cruises are stupid (gas guzzling environment destroyers), make sure you go to your safety briefing asap, nobody wants to be late to leaving port because of a select few people ignoring the requirements.
Get travel insurance and bring your passport with you if you're going international. Make sure to take it with you when leaving the ship. While it may not be necessary to have to enter a country, you will need it if you get left behind in order to get home.

1 ynever been on carnival... but others
if you risk being sea sick, bring something in case.
I've gotten a cold on each trip, bring something for that?
Go to the entertainment shows, book them when you can. they are usually very good.
enjoy your trip!
Do not fall off the boat

1 yDo stuff, it is far too easy to just stay in your cabin. Explore the boat, get familiar with the layout early and make a list of things to do. If you are travelling alone, find the solo travellers group. Chat to the barstaff, they are generally really friendly and will help you out.
Have fun! You are in a floating resort, there will be shows, events, live music and all sorts of entertainment. Do as much or as little as you want.00 Reply- 1.1K opinions shared on Travel topic.
u 1 yhand sanitizers... tons of them
noroviruses are running wild, all over the place10 Reply Don't fall off the boat. there's a solid chance if you fall off by the time the ship can turn around and they send people to save you'll have already drowned.

1 yYes, don't go on cruises unless it stays close enough to the shoreline that passerbys will see if the ship starts sinking. The odds of surviving while lost at sea are basically zero.

Asker1 ydang y'all must be broke😂. it’s also a cheaper way to visit a country

Hey I've been all over the world okay. I've probably banged hookers in more countries than you'll ever see in your life. I mean I lived in Japan for over a decade and can read and write Japanese.
You can't blame me for thinking a 12-pack of strong beer and a new video game is better than an old folk's swinger party for geezers.
Asker1 yWhat if someone’s traveled the world also and they just want to be on a big boat and try something new.. it’s not that expensive to travel especially if you have family in other countries like me lol. Let’s be opened minded and not treat being a whore like a trophy. 😌
