I don't know much about Algeria but I know for example Alger have a very similar architecture to Marseille and look very pretty. It's a very interesting countries and apparently people there are pretty welcoming toward foreigner even French people which surprised me considering the history of ours both countries, they also speak very good French. After for most interesting I don't know, French people for example usually prefer Tunisia and Morocco because they're safer and we don't need a visas for those while we need a visa for Algeria.

My grandparents went to Africa a lot but if I remember correctly they only went to Subsaharian Africa because they found it more interesting. They went to Mauritania, Senegal, Côte d'Ivoire, Tanzania you should look into it :)

Ther's lots of mountain and beach in Algeria but the "frontiere" between Morroco and Algeria is pretty "dangerous" like it's very guarded as there's tension between both countries.

Yeah, Algeria has a strict visa regime and authorities are strict.

As weird as it happen in France we know nothing of Algeria we don't really learn about it in school and I think what we learnt was surely biased stuff.
Bascially we don't learn anything about our ex colonies in France, I guess they want to avoid the awkward questions.
Like if we were to learn about Algeria in school Algerian will have a lot of things to say about it so they teacher surely prefer to avoid it.

Tunisia is very safe it's the most touristic and apparently Morocco is also pretty touristic and safe to what I heard lately (I saw a French documentaries about old people living there cause it's cheaper and it was apparently good but I personally don't know much about those countries).

Algeria have a pretty strict politic regime a bit dictatorial depending on who you ask so it's a bit tense. Especially since they're always fighting with French government so it's awkward
My grandparent travelled in the 60, 70s, 80s and 90s so things were very different more safe. He went to Mauritania during his military mandatory service.
Colonial period was definitely an interesting period, it would have been interesting to travel through this time.

Kabyle are pretty White looking, Algerian women used to be popular in the 2000s they used to called them beurette in France but now they have gotten very into Islam and they wear abaya and Hijab so they're not popular anymore and people don't like them anymore they see them as oppressed and want to force them to removed their clothes, last September they made a law to forbid modest clothes in school (like long dress / skirt and oversize set).

Those outfit were seen as not ok to go into school cause too modest : (only France can do this XD)

Yes I don't really get why they speak French so well they learn it in school instead of learning English. Now they introduced English but they speak much better French than English I guess it's cause a lot want to immigrate in France or cause they have a lot of family in France.
because Algeria was our colony for so many years and so many Algerian live in France since many decade I guess we are pretty connected no matter if they hate us.
Marakkech is very touristic so I doubt it's dangerous expect for the seller trying to rob you and thief but there's the same people in France.

LOL. This is so weird to me, because when I was growing up, France always had a reputation for being a very liberal society in the sense. My dad was genuinely convinced all the French girls on Guadeloupe walk around naked on the beaches XD

And I mean, they have an entire nudist village in Cap d'Adge and even a beach where you can have sex, but then there is stuff like this and you said you can even get arrested for being shirtless in the wrong place, so yeah. France is kind of weird in this aspect. They need to make up their minds.

Yes Iraq was exhausting to watch. Some beautiful hearted people too though. The kindness she comes across so often tears me up sometimes. Such as currently in Saudi Arabia desert locations. She missed breakfast as everything was closed, hits the desert anyway... and two car loads of vehicles cross her path and have fresh cinnamon buns that one of their mother's made. Blew my mind.

Yup, that sounds like her. She's very spontaneous and doesn't always plan/research properly. She's met some shitty people too though.
Her interactions with local police and border guards are always fun to watch though.

My sentiment exactly. I am an experienced traveler, but you couldn't pay me to go into some of the areas where she goes in. I think there is a difference between instant danger and the danger of being predictable in your movements because you are there for a longer amount of time. Just whizzing though or staying for a few hours provides security by obscurity. At least that's the feeling I got from being sized up in questionable areas on my journeys.

Too, the theft so could have been prevented if she talked the hotel into hiding her bike in an inside corner as she has in the past. Exhaustion lead to a poor choice that time.

Visiting vast parts of Northern Africa is basically asking for having a bad time. Corruption everywhere, unstable regimes or governments, annoying street sellers and beggars, dangerous taxi drivers, questionable food hygiene... if you want to visit Africa, try some sustainable-tourism run safari lodge in Namibia, Botswana or South Africa.

Morroco and Tunisia are very safe many French go there at every Holliday there's also lots of old people living there all years along it's very safe and you can dress how you want. You sound like a guy who never travelled outside your countries.

Depends on what you find interesting. Algeria has natural beauty, culture and history galore but not much going on economically. DROC has tremendous economic potential in their natural resources and great natural beauty, but it's history is pretty bad and the culture is horrible.
