Airbus has lost billions on its gigantic A380.
Airlines want better fuel efficiency. Fuel is the major cost of operating an aircraft. Major airlines like Emirates, Lufthansa and Delta are interested in an aircraft that can seat 500 passengers, have a range of 10 thousand miles, and run on only two engines.
The A390 is an A380 with only two engines, greatly increasing its fuel efficiency.
It's estimated to take 5 years to develop it, the major effort to design and manufacture the huge engines required.
What do you think?
Should Airbus commit to this?
