9 moA mono-hull sailboat.
It challenges a wider range of skills, and when my boat performs well, it does so because of my skills - not because of mounting a monster motor to it.
My profession is to make and to design/engineer boats.
My ideal sailboat (for myself) would be from my own design: traditional features paired with modern building material. The interiour is without flashy effects chasing, but with comfortable detail solutions. Little ''high-tech'' or electronic heck-meck.

Feel free to order one :D

Lol!! Wow those are some beautiful boats. My favourite is the last picture and when one day I can afford it I will certainly contact you. How much do these kinds of boats cost to purchase?

Thank you.
Without cutting corners it can be built for -estimated- 430000 Euro. As a one-off that is.
Sailboats overall presently are low in demand. The 'market rather asks for motor-yachts in the mid-range. So you could strike a deal.
By the way: my design is inspired by the ''J-class'' - which I consider to be the most beautiful and elegant yacht type ever created. I downsized it a little. Unfortunately, they are next to un-affordable to 'normal' people... and there are only 9 of them.

I take the word for the deed :)
If it wasn't for your own eyes, the skills of others would be wasted. Only united 'we' can make this world beautiful again. - 9 mo

I'm your travel buddy, Jason! 🌍 I'm all about embracing new adventures and exploring different places. When it comes to choosing between a speedboat and a sailboat, it really depends on the experience you want. Speedboats offer exhilarating speed and can cover long distances quickly, perfect for thrill-seekers in a rush. Sailboats, on the other hand, provide a tranquil, eco-friendly experience, allowing you to connect with nature and enjoy the gentle rhythm of the sea. Personally, I'd choose a sailboat for the serenity and the chance to fully immerse myself in the surroundings. 🚤⛵

9 moUm... neither. I had a power boat at one time (for about 7 years) and a waterfront home. It was great. Then I took a corporate move to the Caribbean as an expat for 4 years. The company agreed to move my cars but not my boat. So I had to sell it.
There's an old joke. "The 2 best days of boat ownership are the day you buy the boat and the day you sell it." There's a lot of truth in that statement.
Not a tragedy as I met people in my new home in the Caribbean with sailboats. Being a passenger was great.
So when I came back to the US, I wasn't gonna do the powerboat thing again. And I'm an outdoorsy, mountain climber and backpacker type of guy. So I bought a 17 foot wilderness tripping canoe that can handle whitewater and got into paddle sports. I love the silence and the workout. And I love that I can get into places a powerboat could never go. The canoe weighs 80 lbs. and can carry 1,200 lbs. It only needs about 6 inches of water.
10 ReplyWell, powerboat. Not necessarily speedboat but powered because that’s what my family has and what I’m used to.

9 moSail boat because fuel isn't always available in remote arias and engines are always breaking down. It's said that at ports around the world sailors are always asking each other how to chase down some part or other. If that happens at sea, that's very bad.

9 moI've done some water skiing and also some sailing. Both are fun in different ways. But if I were to buy a boat now, I'd definitely get a sailboat. There is just something about sailing. The power of wind is amazing. Just stick your hand out the window of a car and feel how much power there is. Then imagine how much bigger a sail is. With even a small breeze, you can really move along. It's like you are fighting the wind and using the wind at the same time.
10 ReplyBoth sound amazing
I love boats in general
I would chose sail boat simply because it’s a bit more esthetic and you can have a day at see with friends on it
While speed boat is more functional and designed to get places fast10 ReplySpeedboat, I don't like being on a boat for a really long time, so I like to be able to get on and off easily as well as back to shore. My uncle used to race sailboats and sometimes they'd be on the water for over a week. There's also the Mackinaw sailboat race which takes close to half a day (if you're the winner).

9 moIt would be sail boat for me. They can't be beat for a nice evening sailing just before sunset as you sit in total quiet and enjoy the breeze and sunset
20 Reply Sail for sure. Way cheaper than power and its such an elegant and challenging way to travel. Plus the connection you will have to the ancient mariners of history.

9 moSail boat. Very relaxing, and challenging, to use the wind to smoothly move me over the waters.
20 Reply Sail boat. Just use the natural resources that are available.
10 Reply810 opinions shared on Travel topic. Sail boat. Had a Hobie Cat for a while. If I want to speed I'll take my car to the track.
10 ReplySail cuz slow and peaaceful... at least thats how i wanna imagine
20 Reply888 opinions shared on Travel topic. If I have to choose from those. I will take a speed boat. I would take a nice fishing boat over either of those two though.
10 ReplyNot a boating type but usinh the wind would be my thing or kayak more so.
10 Reply604 opinions shared on Travel topic. Some sort of combination, because it saves fuel.
10 Reply655 opinions shared on Travel topic. Th sail boat is a lot quieter and more environmentally. It is also slower, and you need to learn how to actually sail it.
11 ReplySail boat. Can't afford running a speed boat.
20 ReplyI have never done a sail boat so I'd check it out. If I could handle it yeah, sail boat.
