The first one was when I transferred flights to Japan while flying from China to Japan and then to Canada for my immigration to my current country at age 4. I did not hang out in Japan, just transferred flights there.

The first foreign country I visited other than my living country that wasn't a plane lay over, was America. My parents would sometimes drive to America for road trips, since it was a few hours from where we lived. At age 8, my dad drove me and my mom and his friend 10 hours to America to visit my cousin's family and hang out at their house for half a week.

Canada, but that was just the southern border, and I could still see the US. I didn't even go through customs. The first country I went to when I had to go through customs was also Canada, but that was at Niagra Falls rather than just across a lake. The first country I went to where I was not near the border was the UK.

I went to Benidorm in Spain when I was 7. The first flight and international trip and I went back to the same place last year, 47 years later. Hotel was still there but there was a lot of other changes since then.
