When I was a 18, I flew to Philadelphia alone without my parents around to see my cousin's family because one of them had emergency medical needs and could not do normal things and they wanted somebody they trusted to aid them with their living conditions.

They decided I was not qualified to render the level of service they expected and they let me return within a week.

They could afford to hire anybody they wanted and they paid me, but because I had never had a job before beyond basic craft jobs, I did not have the experience I needed to provide them with quality service.

Not counting various class trips to nearby farms in grammar school...

As a freshman in high school, I traveled to Quebec City Canada with my French class between Christmas and New Years, first time I went anywhere without my parents. I remember going to see a French-language movie, eating escargots for the first time, and sledding down a hill outside the well-known Chateau Frontenac hotel, which is where our group stayed. The rule was, we had to speak French whenever we could, and the locals appreciated that.

I went to the Cayman Islands in the 1980s with a girlfriend as a young man.

I traveled with friends’ for 2 weeks on a road trip through all the New England States from New Jersey all the way to Canada when I was 18 years old , it was one of my favorite trips of all time , we had a blast , we visited pretty much all the tourist attractions in each state along the way , and saw some really cool things. We also camped and stayed in some hotels as well and of course every night was a party.

Either Erie or Youngstown, I think. My band had a gig in one of those places. I was in my mid to late 20's, by then. I WAS gonna say, Cedar Point but, they DID drive me there and eventually come pick me up at the end of the summer but, I WAS there all by my lonesome for the very first time and it was for nearly 3 months. I went there 2 weeks before my 21st b-day! Thankfully, they DID come back to spend that day with me and we all rode the rides in the park all day.
