Where Are You Going On Your Summer Vacation This Year?

My cycling group are arranging a tour in Europe, but it's still early days for us, and we are at the planning stage.

But I'm dreaming about, and looking forward to those warm sunshine long days, the beautiful beaches, the clear oceans and seas we will visit.

I don’t get a “summer vacation”. I haven’t since i finished skool. If i did, i would certainly travel more. However, i don’t generally like group trips. I tend to accommodate others instead of focusing on what i want to do. Then i feel somewhat unfulfilled when the trip concludes. One or maybe two other people, or if a big group is going together then there is very limited group itinerary, if at all. That seems to be the only way that my vacation can stay MY vacation.


That said, your “cycling group ‘IS’ arranging a tour”. “Group” is the subject and it’s singular. So the appropriate auxiliary verb is ‘is’, not “are”. If you wrote ‘The people in my cycling group ARE arranging a tour’, that would be grammatically correct.

Thank you for correcting my English. I do try very hard to have good written English, but in the past on GAG's I've been unable to do a check, to make sure I've not made an obvious mistake.
Sometimes I rush and I fail to see these mistakes, but hey I'm human, though sometimes I should be more careful.
In this case in question I wanted to say 'We' are arranging a cycling vacation, but I thought GAG members would wonder who 'we' were, so I've said the group are arranging a vacation, and I'm emphasising the individuals within the group.
I hope you are satisfied with my answer, but perhaps my questions are better than my English 😄

I also sometimes cross over from American English to English, and vice versa, so all in all you are probably thinking, WOW, I wish I never said a word about my English, or American English 🤣

I understood why you did what you did. It’s a very common mistake. The autocorrect on G@G has actually gotten better. I’m surprised that it didn’t fix it for you, or whatever device you’re accessing the site or app should have recommended the proper verb there.
For the most part, your grammar is good and my observations suggests that is deliberate because SO many people are terrible about it now. That’s part of why i offered the correction. People who don’t even try tend to get bitter about being corrected. 😂😂😂

I am just surviving a 45 Celsius summer day. The Uber driver said he was getting a lot of fares taking people from the beach because it was too bloody hot.

I'm thinking it might be very hot on our summer vacation too.

It is currently a la nina which should be cool and wet for us whilst el nino gives us hot and dry.

It more depends on the wind direction as there is nothing between us and the Antarctic. I am only 5 degrees above the Roaring Forties. If there is any south in the wind it is cold. If it is northerly the wind has passed over desert and is hot and dry.

We have a big camping trip planned for further north in our own home state of Maine but it's a fairly big state and considered 50% uninhabited so it should be an awesome adventure! (And we're planning on sasquatch hunting there too!) 😊

I don't train I just try to keep doing the rides.

It takes a lot of effort going on vacation, and it was only because someone was organising the holidays that I've been on recently, otherwise I probably would have had just day trips.
