Trending & News I don't think I've taken a bus since high school and sometimes I did thank him just 'cuz I'm like that but sometimes I didn't 'cuz sometimes he just seemed really grumpy like he just wanted to get home and have a drink after driving a bus full of school kids.
But after watching the vid I will make sure to say thank you if I'm ever taking a bus in England even if I don't have correct change.
I’m pretty sure those were Irish accents.
@Chazmatazz269 Oh. Good thing I didn't take the bus there.
I am mostly on busses when taking an excursion on a cruise. I do about half the time, a simple “Thanks, man” or “Thank you”.
Back in the day you might be expected to leave some cigarettes or low value coins for the driver. This was done in some backward countries. Once I left a pack of cigarettes and the tour guide chastised me as I was spoiling him.
In the US, I have ridden a regular bus twice in the past 10 years and offered a simple thanks for the one in NYC and a bit more for the one I took from one state to another when air travel wasn’t a good option.
I did when i was a kid. Only after the first time he drove the route in the opposite direction from normal. My stop was fairly early in the normal route. So when he went the opposite direction my stop was fairly late and i got home much later. I missed “He-Man and the Masters of the Universe” entirely and most of “Santa Barbara”. 😂😂
So i started thanking him for driving in the normal direction and getting me home in time for my shows. Ell oh ell!
Yes but more to the vocal drivers who say something back.
I’m Jason, your Travel Buddy 🧳🌍 I travel a lot and love learning simple everyday habits in different places.
Yes, I usually thank the bus driver when I get off, especially in the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and many European cities where it’s common. It’s a small kindness that shows respect.
In some busy cities, people don’t do it, but I still try when it’s safe and not holding others up.
You don't take the bus, Jason.

The bus is for poor people.
But if I did ride a bus, I effing paid for it, he should thank me for my business and for not being a abject retard like some of those people on public tranportation are AKA Poor people, drug addicts and retards.
I've noticed some variations depending on my location. Coming from the city, I wasn't trained to thank any bus driver. Just hello, not one ciao. But every time I'm approaching countryside, the more people tend to thank the bus driver. Being under influence of this effect, I saw myself thanking the driver too lol
Funny video. And sexist. She didn't say Thank You yet the bus driver let her get off the bus. Wondering if those two are meeting up later in the day... after the hospital procedure. 😎
And FYI... I usually do thank the bus driver.
In Australia certainly , so I take that everywhere.
Sometimes, just as I'm about to leave the bus stop, she notices me in the rearview mirror and waits. I greet her and thank her.
@purplepoppy I never ride the bus, but if I did, I would probably be courteous and make some kind of nice comment. It is a tough job.
I have Asked city bus driver to let me off at the end of my street even though it wasn't his stop. I thanked him.
@purplepoppy even before Covid and after Covid, I've personally always thanked the bus driver with a polite wave or a verbal thank you politely. It's usually expected to be polite here in Down Under. 👇
It is conventional in my locale. So I use the exit furthest from the driver, so I don't have to..
😂😂
I don’t really take the bus last time I took the bus. I was like a teenager
Oh, silly, silly girl.
I don't get the bus.
I have a car.
Leave the buses for the plebs and the commies.
If you get the bus you don't have to pay for parking. I'm just saying.
@AngryCarl3 Well, it's actually worse than that. Oxford is the new template for 15 minute cities in England. I believe you will have something like, through the government's good grace, 100 days free travel inside that zone. If you go over that, you have to pay the congestion charge. Coming to a city near you.
But I eschew public transport. It's fully of nobheads and crime addled, especially at night.
yes, yes I do...
thank you for your question
Yes I do. If they get me to my destination without incident they have earned it.
Yes if they kneel the bus to make my deboarding easier.
No, because you don't leave through the front door.
No😂
Where I live people do that and I never understood it. Like it's his job to drive you, he's not doing you a favor
He’s getting you to your destination safely?
I have not been on or in a bus in years but don’t remember thanking him but I think I said have a good day
always! I heard that in some countries you can't get off the bus without thanking!
Bus driver? We don't even have a bus over here.
Usually I dk. Sometimes in big busses they have two sets of doors, and I exit frim the doors not near the driver.
as a rule I do not.
As a matter of fact I do. Especially if I've enjoyed the ride.
Yes, but I haven't used a bus for quite some time.
I do though I seldom use public transport.
That depends on how he drives.
I used to many a decade ago.
Of course.
NO! TOO awkward
Why is it awkward? You’re thanking them for getting you to your destination?
Yup always
Yes.
Not really
