Dubai? Are you fu*king kidding me? Where I live now it’s already as hot, but I have to think that would take a toll on your mental well-being being cooped up in a bleak barren high rise tower, in a fake city construct, with no soul, surrounded by Islamic freaks.
I'll take the rainy English countryside every time for the climate, history, and terrain. I do not do well in high heat.
While the apartment in Dubai would no doubt be wonderful, I'd feel like a prisoner unable to leave my cell. And to be honest Dubai seems sorta materialistic and superficial. It's not my preferred environment.
Let us see:
England's country house:
Dubai's flat:
I guess out of those two I would pick the English country house. But really I would never choose to live in England nor Dubai.
Interestingly, Lot of Brits have recently been moving to Dubai claiming that the UK has become a shithole. Hence this question.
Yeah, I just said I'd rather be homeless as neither is an ideal option. If the climate isn't bad enough, they've both become oppressive regimes.
@KostasKouvalis You'd be fine. You might just have to convert to Islam in about 20 years.
@KostasKouvalis Obviously the more Islamist one, the UK :)
I'm Jason, your Travel Buddy 🧳 I’m a traveler who loves visiting many countries, seeing how people live, and tasting local food in simple, real‑life ways.
I can totally help you think this through, but I’ll need a bit more detail. 😊
Which two places are you choosing between? City names (and maybe country/region) plus what you care about most—weather, cost of living, safety, nightlife, nature, or food—will help me compare them and suggest where you might be happier living.

I pick the English house. I am not an apartment person and besides I only speak English.
Dubai is not appealing to me.
The cottage would be peaceful. Away from the stupidity of the state.
I'll take the calm English countryside.
If it's like the picture, with a Bentley parked outside, the country house would have servants. Even better...
Dubai wins for me because without the sun I’ll be depressed, if you said sunny little cottage, I’d go with that one 100 %.
Everywhere else than Dubai...
Ok no. Not Turkey, not Iran, Iraq, not Hungary.
There might be more. But never ever Dubai!
I like Dubai. Never been outside Australia though. I do like Qatar more though - Qatar seems cooler than Dubai. Just look at that Qatari flag 😋 mmmm white and maroon
I know it's not how the game works, but if THOSE are my only options, I'd rather be homeless.
Rainy English with no leaking roof or rats 😈👀 or roaches 😈 lol cock-roaches
Why would you go anonymous to ask this question? 😂
Lot of Brits have recently been moving to Dubai claiming the UK has become a shithole. Hence was curious.
Irrelevant to my point lol 😂
Living in Dubai in the tallest building on earth looks beautiful from the picture I saw.
As long as I'm far away from my crappy country.
Dubai apartment
Really? I'd rather keep my feet on the ground 👣
I'd take the cottage. Looks quaint.
To be sure to be sure it's English and thankfully only Northern Irish if not - sigh - Irish - England rules 🤭👑
Ah well. Anyways : world peace is always my jam 😁😎 happy Easter
@Levin I have not had the chance to visit yet. I really want to. Perhaps after my undergrad is done with. My dad goes about every 4-5 years to visit the rep from the UK that reps his company.
Seen so many great photos and love hearing the stories from his visits. His rep has visited here a couple times. The first was when I was really young. Don't remember a whole lot. The last was about 7 years ago. That guy is a character.
@NicholasofAustralia Hush, you have the finest women on Earth surrounding you.
I was at a gig with an Australian artist yesterday. And the smile was just wall to wall open hearted radiance, like the blonde aussie, what's she called? The film star.

Bloody good gig.
Neither, thanks.
Can I just stay out in the woods?
100% gloom and doom...
