If you have no idea what to go as for Halloween, why not try conscripting your friends to do a group costume. You can be really elaborate in your dedication to a theme, or go basic with nothing more than a few t-shirts and a few props.
Group costumes are fun for a couple of reasons. They work really well at getting attention. If you don't want to "look stupid" by yourself, you have friends all dressed similarly. You can enter into group costume contests and you get to be part of a fun group experience.
It's important that you start early because you may have to spend some time either making your costumes, or having someone making them, or finding them as well as trying them on all together if you are really dedicated to getting the overall effect right.
