I got hit by a car speeding downhill as a small boy, hit the windshield and rolled over top of the car, and somehow managed to only get bruises and no broken bones. I suppose that was very lucky and improbable.
There are lots of nice things that happened to me in life but it's hard to label those as "lucky" since I can't figure out the odds of that happening or weigh it so easily against all possible alternative outcomes. So I'm usually thinking of "lucky" things as ones where there is a fairly set notion of a fair clear probability of one outcome as opposed to the other, with an extremely unlikely but favorable outcome being "lucky".
Thank you for the MHG.
