I believe this because lesbians would not feel under pressure to maintain thinness to please men. But your second picture with the lesbians on bikes is an extreme example. Most certainly don't look like the first picture, but they're typically just a little bit heavier and a little bit masculine looking.

Pick the right people and ask the questions, you can design a survey to come to almost any conclusion you want

Samuel-_- is right. Surveys are NOT factual. A fact is something that is true and an accepted comprehension that can be proven over and over again using the same methods. In that same sense, a survey's responses or outcome will change based on who is surveyed. People generally aren't too different subconsciously from each other, but an opinion is an opinion and a lot of surveys are based on opinions and things people believe. And if you only believe it, or don't, then it's obviously an opinion. As you mentioned @Thatsamazing whether or not you believe it, it's true, couldn't be further from the purpose of a general survey, especially one based on people's perspective of a group of people.

@ImagineSketchy Yes... right. If your point is that the survey needs to be a good one, rather than a bad one, then I agree. They can still be quite useful when studying sociological matters.

My point is that they aren't always valid. And sociology isn't always an applicable field of study. In this case it might be applicable, but very inaccurate. A better survey for this would simply ask lesbians where they sit with BMI, and weight range, anonymously of course.
