A Wisconsin high school has reportedly come under fire for a cheerleading award ceremony last year that saw some of the teens win accolades such as the “Big Boobie” and “Big Booty” awards.
Tremper High School cheerleading coaches gave out awards to a girl for her supposedly “enormous boobs” and a “Big Booty” award to another because “everybody loves her butt.”
“We love her butt. Everybody loves her butt,” the presenting coach said in the video, before the girl accepted the accolade in front of 150 banquet guests. A freshman cheerleader also received the “String Bean” award because she was “so light and skinny.”
Parents who were at the event told The New York Times they were uncomfortable with the contest.
"I looked around and thought, ‘Did that just happen?’ If my daughter would have won one of those awards, I would’ve absolutely been rushing the stage. It was just so wrong, in so many ways,” one mother told the newspaper.“The incidents described all reveal a culture in which female students are objectified and sexualized"
Tremper High School was told not to give out those kinds of awards at any future banquets.
"A clear expectation has been set that awards of this nature are not acceptable and are not to be given at Tremper cheerleading banquets going forward," Kenosha Unified School District Chief Communications Officer, Tanya Ruder, told Fox News

This definitely falls into the "inappropriate" category. If it was college where everyone is an adult, you might be able to laugh it off... but high school? No way. They're all still kids. I don't think people should lose their jobs over this, but they should definitely be reprimanded and/or suspended.

That's a great way to make other girls feel sexually inferior during their teenage years, y'know, the time in their life when they are MOST likely to develop body dysphoria...
This isn't even mentioning how creepy and predatory this sounds. If I had a daughter being voted based on how many people were constantly observing her body like a pageant judge, I'd be disgusted and a little afraid for her safety.

This is disgusting, if it was my daughter, I would sue the school. What are they thinking? These schools are filled with perverted old men and homosexuals. Their perversion no knows bounds. Children need to be left to their innocence the world will corrupt them soon enough.
Big tits and great butts need to be rewarded and given free scholarships for a motivational purpose. ... Else we'd only have tiny male nipple tits and wrinkly butts that look like vaginas. That kind of world would be disconcerting for me.

Seems like the sort of thing that's more appropriate for the students to award each other than for faculty members or any other adults to participate in. But I'll tell you one thing: I'm guessing if you ask them at their 30th reunion who won the "enormous boobs" award, who won the "best butt" award, who was prom queen and who was valedictorian, most people would get the right answer for the first two awards.
Having a big butt is not the same thing as achieving high academic success, especially when the person in question is a child, and insinuating that those two things are of equal level and deserving of equal recognition is absolutely abhorrent and disgusting.
It's really not that different from many superlatives that are awarded. It was all in good fun and besides, one of the main purposes of cheerleaders is to be the eye candy.
