That would be a lot of work just to get some money. There are plenty of families that are wealthier than the Windsor’s. Marrying into those families would also not result in nearly as many consequences, such as those faced by Princess Diana, nor would it result in such a degree of jealousy as you and plenty of others are currently showing.

And by the way, she’s having a kid with him. Even if you think she only wants money, I highly doubt that she would put her body through that when there are plenty of other easier ways to get money.

Marrying into the Royal family gives her access to fame, wealth, privledge and power built up over 1000 years that virtually few others enjoy. Very Few families are richer than the Royals, their true wealth is hard to measure and is subsidized by the British taxpayer. Royals are above the law, being a royal is like being a state official or ambassador automatically. Diana was a fool, picked as breeding mare for Charles, Meghan knows how to play the game.
The first thing a Gold digger does is pop out a baby or two to secure access to that wealth.
Put it this way before she got with Prince Harry she was an over 30 actress who's career highlight was a minor role in a daytime tv show that only old people, the unemployed and housewives watched then overnight after it was announced she was seeing Prince Harry she's an A-list celebrity with offers of interviews from Ellen to Oprah, she's in every newspaper& news station, she gets a huge expensive televised wedding, she gets to be seen supporting causes, she becomes a fashion icon, she becomes a feminist role model she gets two major royal titles of dutchess& princess, she gets to wear a tiara, suddenly what she says matters, access to huge wealth, she gets to live in palaces with Royal servants, the Obama's suddenly want to know her, Jay Z& Beyonce want to be her friend, people start watching her in tv show suits etc all this by marrying one British prince 6th in line to the throne. If she'd have married someone like Bill Gates or Elon Musk nobody would know who she is.

She wanted out of acting. Now she gets the fame, praise, money and celebrity lifestyle she wants without having to go down on a producer. She was a nobody in a television show, she wasn't exactly rubbing shoulders with Beyonce/Jay-Z etc now they worship her.
What easier way is there to obtain wealth, fame and power than marrying a Royal Prince? Pretty sure mark zuckerberg and others like him who started with little worked very hard to obtain wealth.
Diana is not above criticism, she didn't play the game well and the very thing she used to stick to the Royal family was what killed her.
