Scientists have been warning about such consequences of climate change for over a decade now. One could then link the current events in Asutralia to such climate change. But one should not. Specially celebrities who are, to quote Ricky Geravis "know nothing of the issues".
As far as I am aware, there is no scientific study that has been published in any accepted journals that talk about the causes for this fire in Australia. Its very likely that it is due to climate change. But its not proved. And we, as scientists, do not take kindly to speculations.
I understand that she had noble intentions. But climate change deniers are only gonna milk it to fuel their cause.
It IS largely because of climate change. You accept that or you're wrong and no one should ever respect or give a moment's time to you and your ignorance.
That said, doing this does nothing. We know it's climate change already. They need money, resources, assistance. Not a celebrity talking on TV. Do what Metallica and others have done, donate.

Well, it is not the first time that it has been said that the fires in Australia are, at least in part, a symptom of climate change. So Ms. Aniston is not saying something that has not already been said.
It is not original and given that she is not a noted expert on climate change it is fine for Ms. Aniston to say it, but it is not a matter of great moment. At the very least it can be said that she is following media reports and what at least some of the science seems to suggest.
Given that, I did not vote, but any of the poll options proffered may have more or less merit to them. Though I give Ms. Aniston the benefit of the doubt that her motives were neither nefarious nor self-interested in any narrow sense of her seeking money or popularity. Suffice to add that she already has both.
I have no thoughts. This is like asking someone "What are your thoughts" when a person looks at a pencil and correctly calls it a pencil. Statements of fact ("that's a big mountain!" for example) are not things that people are supposed to have "thoughts" about. It's just a statement of fact. Weird question.
Not the time to say it. She's also only an actor not a scientist. Besides that a lot of the fires are definitely arson. People have been caught so its not speculation. They should be jailed for life.

They have something like 50,000 wild fires a year there. Australia has a lot of desert and savanna… It’s a really arid place. It’s the driest inhabited continent in the world. They go through extreme droughts every couple of decades. There’s a reason why Yeoman developed keyline plowing and why people have farm pounds and swales there. It’s a dry place for the most part. Climate chance can aggravate the problem, but it’s nothing new to the continent.

She's just stating her opinion which, frankly, isn't worth a cup of coffee. There could any number of reasons for those fires. Stating categorically that climate change is responsible is shallow. Climate change could be a factor, but that is not a proven fact.

Well, I too think that Australia being the first nation to experience the real consequences of climate change while simultaneously being its most staunchest denialist is quite poetic.
You can't prove a specific fire is caused by climate change, but it does make fires overall more likely.
I always love how lefties think that global warming is the cause of any environmental crisis. A meteor could hit us and they'd blame Trump and climate change.

Just like anybody else, she's entitled to have an opinion. But what she said is a theory, not a fact, and should be taken in that vein.

She isn't the only one. I listened to a video last night from an Australian saying the same thing. All I know it's been warm all winter in Texas and barely had a freeze.
Government didn't do enough to stop the fire. Media started talking about too late. Controlled burning of dry bush was banned legislatively. There are plenty of reasons which are not related to global warming
