Anonymous(30-35)+1 yScientists have been warning about such consequences of climate change for over a decade now. One could then link the current events in Asutralia to such climate change. But one should not. Specially celebrities who are, to quote Ricky Geravis "know nothing of the issues".
As far as I am aware, there is no scientific study that has been published in any accepted journals that talk about the causes for this fire in Australia. Its very likely that it is due to climate change. But its not proved. And we, as scientists, do not take kindly to speculations.
I understand that she had noble intentions. But climate change deniers are only gonna milk it to fuel their cause.10 Reply

+1 yIt IS largely because of climate change. You accept that or you're wrong and no one should ever respect or give a moment's time to you and your ignorance.
That said, doing this does nothing. We know it's climate change already. They need money, resources, assistance. Not a celebrity talking on TV. Do what Metallica and others have done, donate.11 Reply- +1 y

+1 yIs there something wrong with you? Whatās with the pathetic poll choices? while arsonists are directly to blame, climate change has fueled the fires to grow due to A drier than normal Environment. If a person of fame like Jen Anniston wants to use her celebrity to bring awareness to the global problem of climate change, she should. 1 billion Australian animals are dead.

I just put up the most comn things for people to choose which I say on most my post say what you like in comment's an if you believe climate is getting worse get ti gether withmoeoplr an make a CHANGE I think people should demand change by POTIONING OUR LEADERS THEN IT GETS CHANGED so we save šøš¦ šŗšā°šššš» all these things for the future no 1 wants to leaders dont care unless at least 90 percent of people demand in in writing to try to pass laws to make companies pay to clean up all there polution or else shut down then companies would be forced to make there business green in every way

I don't think it's global warming either. Even though they're not to this extreme, bushfires are extremely common. They need to start backburning again.

But coal burning doesn't help to make energy when we have geo thermo energy an wind solar
- +1 y
Do you mean the back burning part? I just mean a controlled burn to get rid of all the dead foliage. I believe it used to be more common here but something happened. I'm not too sure.
- +1 y
Talking about clean energy to help keep places from burning due to dryer heat an less rain that effects weather from coal burning read the research on %global warming from scientists in Australia an America is seeing the same problems

Well, it is not the first time that it has been said that the fires in Australia are, at least in part, a symptom of climate change. So Ms. Aniston is not saying something that has not already been said.
It is not original and given that she is not a noted expert on climate change it is fine for Ms. Aniston to say it, but it is not a matter of great moment. At the very least it can be said that she is following media reports and what at least some of the science seems to suggest.
Given that, I did not vote, but any of the poll options proffered may have more or less merit to them. Though I give Ms. Aniston the benefit of the doubt that her motives were neither nefarious nor self-interested in any narrow sense of her seeking money or popularity. Suffice to add that she already has both.13 Reply- +1 y

+1 yI have no thoughts. This is like asking someone "What are your thoughts" when a person looks at a pencil and correctly calls it a pencil. Statements of fact ("that's a big mountain!" for example) are not things that people are supposed to have "thoughts" about. It's just a statement of fact. Weird question.

Not the time to say it. She's also only an actor not a scientist. Besides that a lot of the fires are definitely arson. People have been caught so its not speculation. They should be jailed for life.
They effectively murdered people and millions of animals.11 Reply- +1 y
Yes killing animals is wrong to do by burning live 1s š
They have something like 50,000 wild fires a year there. Australia has a lot of desert and savanna⦠Itās a really arid place. Itās the driest inhabited continent in the world. They go through extreme droughts every couple of decades. Thereās a reason why Yeoman developed keyline plowing and why people have farm pounds and swales there. Itās a dry place for the most part. Climate chance can aggravate the problem, but itās nothing new to the continent.

She is virtue signaling and trying to boost her popularity, without actually doing anything different in her own life. A goddamn arrogant hypocrite, just like the rest of the Hollywood elite. So glad that Ricky Gervais put all of these sanctimonious dickheads in their place.11 Reply- +1 y

391 opinions shared on Trending & News topic. She's just stating her opinion which, frankly, isn't worth a cup of coffee. There could any number of reasons for those fires. Stating categorically that climate change is responsible is shallow. Climate change could be a factor, but that is not a proven fact.

I always love how lefties think that global warming is the cause of any environmental crisis. A meteor could hit us and they'd blame Trump and climate change.
Not to mention how incompetent the Australian government must be to be so utterly unprepared and unable to deal with this.01 Reply- +1 y
