Neither watch US nor UK's TV shows, except their movies and web series

I remember a teletext page from the last millenium that explained why a US show (I think it was The Late Show), only lasted an hour in Europe, compared to two in the US. They'd cut five minutes of the show, plus advertising. There were still adverts.
