Here is a pointless feature florida is adding, what you think?

You are not required to carry your drivers licence in Florida except for when driving, you’re just expected to identify yourself to law enforcement when you are stopped on suspicion of a crime/traffic violation. That’s as basic as giving your name and address... You can choose to stay silent... If you are a pedestrian on foot or using public transportation, but want to verify your identity with the police when stopped, show you are of an appropriate age to purchase tobacco, alcohol, porno, firearms, loto tickets, etc., enter a night club or casino, make a bank withdrawal at the teller, etc. it seems like the app would work fine. Even when you forget your wallet at home when driving, if you have a valid drivers license it is on record and if they can verify it in their database they will probably give you a warning. I’d assume it would make it a lot easier to varify it if you were like, oh I forgot my wallet but I do have it on my phone... I’d assume carry the physical copy would be optional in the future. That said, I prefer to link as little information to my GPS signature as possible.
Right, that's my concern.
I can tell them my DL# by memory. They can look it up in their computer.
I don't need to install a government app on my phone to have a photo of my ID. They can have the app on there phone and type in the number same as scanning the card.
No, I don't like this at all. I don't trust it. It's sold as making your life easier but I don't think that's what it's for. It's braindead easy to just take a photo of the card.
I will say, it could be harder to fake the digital one at a gas station... But the government has my name, photo, address, and a record of every time they pull me over. The cops don't look that card, they scan or type in the number and look at the screen. That'll spot a fake ID every time.
So, I don't think they need to put software on my phone for my safety or conveniance.
I can tell you the number. I have it memorized, and you can look it up just as well as if I had an app.
This is a tracking system that probably reports what's on your phone at the same time.
There is no benefit to the cops. If you have a name or a license plate they can look you up in seconds.
So what is the real motivation here?
I don't live in Florida but I visit there fairly often. Would Florida expect me to have a digital license on my phone? ... that's not what my state does. And, this isn't me, but not everyone has a smartphone or one that's capable of storing digital images.. . what then?
Good question. But I think right now the law is the ID from your state has to be valid in other states. So, unless things change there, you ID should be valid.
That said, how long until every state does it or the federal government requires everyone to carry digital "ID"
I already have a Faraday cage for my phone. I'll start using it if this becomes a thing.
If a drivers license was only digital, hopefully the DMV would stop charging people so much money! Right now, their fees are very excessive.

Because this way, a person who steals your phone is taking even MORE vulnerable information from you. And that's good because, um... Look, when have government ideas been good ones?
I'm well aware that the Sunshine laws just make more information available to the public, but it's almost like they WANT the great superantihero Florida Man to rise and begin his campaign of vigilantism.
well the point of a digital drivers license is that unlike the card / paper license, this license also tracks where you've been at all times, so you can't talk your way out of some things, cause they know you were there...
It's a transition period until they make sure it works.
This.
Doesn’t that law have to do with Republicans and their early voter-meddling attempts?
It's the same in my state
You live in Florida?
Florida is useless
