Trending & News I doubt it, unless the ass holes calling the shots in the U. S. have completely lost their minds, Dr. Strangelove-style.
But the U. S. has been focused on global conquest and domination for 70 years. And ever since the breakup of the Soviet Federation in 1991, the U. S. has been expanding NATO right up to Russia's borders and continuing to treat Russia as a cold war enemy instead of part of Europe.
What if Russia embarked on it's own form of NATO and started adding western hemisphere countries to it, arming them and building military bases? The U. S. would be shitting it's pants and calling Russia an imperialist.
In 2014, the CIA engineered a coup in Ukraine to depose the democratically elected president who was opposed to Ukraine becoming part of NATO, and installed an actual Nazi regime that hated Russians and would gladly be a U. S. puppet for a price.
The U. S. wanted Ukraine for several reasons. One was to block Russian pipelines to Europe. But the main one was to seize Russia's naval base at Savastopol and deny Russian access to the Mediterranean.
What the U. S. didn't fully count on was resistance to the Nazi regime by many Ukrainian people, especially in the eastern part of the country. 97% of the people in Crimea voted to remain in the Russian Federation. But that didn't stop the U. S. from encouraging a brutal military crackdown on areas of the country that resisted. So much for democracy and human rights.
When Russia stepped up to defend Crimea, the U. S. blamed Russia of aggression.
The Trump and Biden administrations continued to build up NATO forces all along Russia's European borders. And when Russia built up defensive forces within its own borders, the U. S. again said, ironically, that it was a sign of Russian aggression.
In the meantime, Russia and China just signed an alliance. That is a major deterrent against any U. S. plans to attack Russia. This means that the only option left for the U. S. is to bait Russia into making an defensive move. Any move by Russia will be called aggression and western media will scream it from the rooftops.
The propaganda war will continue, but the chance of an all out war against Russia is almost zero because the U. S. and NATO don't have the ability to defeat both Russia and China in a shooting war. And it nukes are employed it will mean the end of life as we know it on this planet.
The problem is, Russia and China agreed to start trading in Euros instead of the U. S. petro dollar. That will be bad for the U. S. and the global banking system that back it. It will make them increasingly desperate, especially as more and more countries that the U. S. has turned into enemies join.
The future isn't looking great for the U. S. and its economic partners. Nevertheless, I doubt if there will be a full on war.
I said in another question about this, I don’t think it will, there are some howevers…
for me it’s very much like the prelude to WW1, non of the nations wanted a war, yes there had been an arms race etc.
it was mainly the various treaties and not wanting to back down that cause the war.
https://www.iwm.org.uk/history/how-the-world-went-to-war-in-1914
i personally feel the current crisis is almost a repeat of this, without the assassination (so far) l
Its also worth nothing that the Russians have all major warships at sea and provisioned , including full exercise carried out. Additionally, they have moved units from their Pacific fleet to the Mediterranean for Black Sea, the Kalingrad strike group with amphibious group are also positioned in the Black Sea and Baltic fleet units are heading to Med ( or in it) heading to either Black Sea or their port in Syria (protected by SA400’s.
The US has deployed Long range bombers to the UK, and the UK have generated assets for Northern Europe.
so yeah ideally will not, however unless Russia back down, NATO will keep putting pressure on.
Once the Black Sea naval units are in place, it may escalate quickly,
There is a possible repeat of the Cuban Missile crisis, if the US decides to move Armour to Europe (it was all withdrawn), I can see the Russians doing a ‘do not cross this line’
You are partially mixing up WW1 and WW2. In WW1, Germany and France were keen to fight it out again, France especially after the humiliation of 1871. I have seen many documentaries showing volunteer troops happily boarding the trains to the front.
In WW2, the mood was much more somber (especially for people born 1900 or before).
@DryGermanGuy I assure you I am not.
The Germans had one plan, not much more than that,
As soon as Russia decided to mobilise, the Germans had no choice,
As for happily, yes pre trenches, it was still thought of as cavalry, lines of infantry
The UK only joined in because of Low Countries
WW1 no one really wanted a war, but treaties were like tying stone blocks together and shoving down a well.
If history is anything to go by then world leaders should be very worried for their own safety against the people that put them there, absolute monarchies were overthrown and murdered along with their familes for wars and leaving the people to starve, which will happen, expect to see their heads on poles if a war does break out. Putins, johnsons and bidens.
Actually, I do. Putin and Lavrov may say whatever it is they think will help to calm nerves, but it's the evidence on the ground that matters, and the evidence points to an invasion within the near future (this month).

Today Russia evacuated the self-proclaimed republics of Donetsk and Luhansk, to protect the citizens from "Ukrainian aggression". It's all nonsense, since the rebels themselves attack Ukrainian territory with the support of Russian weapons and mercenaries. This might be the prelude for an invasion.

I agree.
The sad part about doing something stupid is that you have to follow through sometimes Putin is not going to back down because Putin he's trying to be seen all over the world as a badass Biden sometimes doesn't think before he speaks and wants to try to pressure Putin and backing down well both of them are in the wrong and at the same time to vote in the right it's the American families that suffer it's going to be the Ukraine families that suffer destroying their cities or town their country but yes it's going to happen sooner or later that's what the covid-19 is all about China is the richest country and they want to control the money they're out of room with population they own half of the United States properties one of these days we'll all start moving here so their next move will be to take over Whoever has the money whoever controls the money will be the winner but no matter what that's the politicians not the people
I think unlike the Afghanistan withdrawal they are planning ahead a bit more... hopefully I'm not giving them too much credit. With that being said, I feel like it may be eminent, I'm not sure why Putin would be moving over 150k troops into position around Ukraine, as well as naval and air assets too. It seems like some big time posturing if that's all he is doing, but I don't think it's just posturing. He took over Crimea with little repercussions and I think he has a vision of reuniting all of the former Soviet republics again. I think if he does invade, it's going to be shortly after the Olympics end, and my fear is that other bad actors like China will invade Taiwan, North Korea may go after South Korea. I think it's evident to most of the world that the US has ineffective leadership currently and many of them may try to take advantage of that while they can.
War is imminent
It is likely that Russia will move into Ukraine. But that may not mean that we go to war. It is obvious that Russia is trying to expand its territory. But we have advised our citizens to leave for their protection. And their will be no rescue operation for any citizens who for whatever reason fail to leave. So the cold way will be stepped up, but it does not mean any shooting between us and Russia.
I seriously thought Bush would never invade Iraq the second time. I thought it was all political posturing. But then a year later there was in the heart of the Sunni Triangle thinking WTF?
Its 50/50 to me, but Russia has a better cause and case to invade Ukraine than the US presented to the UN as a rational for war with Iraq. I mean Ukraine does of old Soviet stock Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMDs).
I don't know; I live in Poland, which is the frontier EU country. The EU is definitely putting up its defenses. Yesterday, my company dispatched me to do a delivery. The route took me down a major highway towards the Ukrainian border. There I personally saw the transport of Hummers in military colours (with bulletproof windows) heading towards Ukraine.
I have several friends from Poland. I hope your country doesn't get involved!
I didn’t think it would come to it, but Washington has made such a big deal of telling Putin to back down without any concessions that he’s forced to either invade or lose face. Also, with Western weapons headed into the Ukraine and the refusal of the US to rule out putting missiles there or letting it into NATO, there is no time like the present. Finally, the lack of public support in the US for intervention is also in Russia’s favor.
If Russia had a fleet of nuclear subs off our coast and was threatening to deploy them and invade, would you think that we should make concessions such as giving them one coast, or that we should tell them to back down? Because that is very similar to what is happening in Ukraine.
@Red_Arrow Not really. Imagine a fictitious scenario in which Mexico had a huge population of Americans in the northern half of the country that had lived there for centuries and had elected an English speaking president who wanted close ties to America. Then imagine that major powers to the south funded a coup just weeks before a scheduled election, banned the teaching of English, banned the use of English in public institutions, and allowed gangs to randomly kill Americans. Then imagine the powers to the south had deployed forces in forward bases on all sides of America and were threatening to bring Mexico into their military pact. Would America be justified in taking action to defend the American population there? Or would it be better for it to do nothing?
that does not even make sense. First, I assume you mean US Americans when you say Americans. (We are all Americans when speaking of North Americans.) And how could they be US citizens if they had lived there for centuries. And are you trying to say that Ukrainians are not the real citizens of Ukraine, but have taken over a country belonging to someone else?
@Red_Arrow i was constructing a fictitious scenario that is more or less equivalent to what happened in the Ukraine. Just replace Mexico with Ukraine, America with Russia, and the southern powers with NATO, and it should all make sense.
Oh it absolutely is, by mid 2023 at latest I wager.
Leave it to our world leaders to fuck everything up and with their egos and fight over trivial petty reasons. And who pays for it? All the people in the world who are just trying to get by and the entire earth if it escalates to a nuclear war
Let's see how Biden botches this one. The White House has said that theirs no plans in place to evacuate any Americans over there and that they are basically on their own, I think that's asinine.
He was quick enough to evacuate people from Afghanistan, unless I am mistaken. I guess, like UK, the advice is leave by commercial airlines.
It sure seems like it is. I'm not one for war, but letting Ukraine fall to Russia sets a bad precedent... It's like a huge game of chicken.
The Ukraine along with belarus is russian all bar name, it wasn't that long ago the ssr was dismantled and a lot of people 30 and over would prefer russia to western european ethos, i mean look at the state of Europe, illegals here, symlathetic leftist morons trying to normalise child killers and paedophilia.. Russia is the only country in Europe that asked why are you allowing them to take over?
I wasn’t aware of a time we weren’t in a war or funding one
Part of me almost wants to see what a total cluster fuck shit show of a war Biden would manage. But I don’t want American blood spilled to protect his scumbag business dealings in Ukraine.
No, they are spreading fakes because they are interested in escalating the situation. Both Russia and Ukraine said for many times that war isn't going to happen
Biden wants to avoid abandoning Americans in Ukraine like he abandoned the Americans in Afghanistan.
Only if the idiot running these country's keep pushing THEIR STUPID agendas and beating their chests.
Just think back of what happened in Afghanistan, they don't want things repeated.
War is a constant. You just need to realise who's fighting and what for.
Biden is encouraging the war
I am not so sure. He carried through Trumps idea of pulling out of Afghistan. I do not think he wants US military involved unless his hand is forced. War between Russia and Ukraine will not involve US. Putin says he doesn't want NATO on Russia's borders. If he moves into Ukraine, he would be putting his military closer to NATO.
OLD JOE NOT TELLING THE MILLIONS HIM AND HUNTER JUST RECEIVED
FROM RUSSIA
I would like us to have some conversation together
Biden is such an idiot!
nope...
