+1 yI feel like this was just one big PR stunt for Will Smith his life behind the camera is getting so bad and he's still clinging on to remain relevant. He's already been humiliated by his family plenty of times in the media so he has nothing to lose and it's not the first time he's hit someone after being offended. I remember he hit a interviewer in the face once for trying to kiss him.
He knows he's got a good flim out right now and he's trying to keep the spot light on him. If it was real the police surly would have escorted him out and he wouldn't be aloud to carry in the award ceremony and be allowed to collect his award like he did. It was such a performance. I'll give it to Will he sure can act.
Everything you see in Hollywood is not as it seems and usually PR is running everything behind the scenes as someone whose worked with people in PR and has friends in the industry usually when something is going bad for a celebrity they'll try to do anything to get the attention on them even if it isn't good attention. Look at Paris Hilton she made a brand out of being a party girl who loved to do drugs and drink. Nothing the media loves more then a shit show05 Reply- +1 y

+1 yI'm actually disgusted by how people are reacting to this.
Let's just talk real quick about what happened. Chris Rock made a joke about Will Smith's wife about her auto-immune disorder in front of millions of people on television, thousands of colleagues and coworkers and his family on the night he could potentially (and at this point Chris Rock might have already known) win an Oscar and it was all done while people are still talking about the allegations that she cheated.
One of these things on their own, wouldn't have warrented a slap, but there were so many levels of wrong here. It was entirely too disrespectful.
Will Smith has a reputation for being one of the nicest, most humble people in Hollywood. Chris Rock has a reputation for disrespecting and demeaning women, particularly black women.
Maybe will thought the joke was funny at first, but you can see him thinking about it before he went up.
Will went up there to say it's not OK to just do whatever you want. He showed that its not OK to have zero consideration for others. He went up there to tell Chris to act like a man.
Half the people on here practically want to kill themselves when someone tells them their 20 pounds over weight but Chris Rock calls Jada gi Jane 2 a few weeks after she went public with her disorder AND it was in front of his whole family. He just excluded them from everything.
If you got a problem with Will doing what he did you really need to re-think your moral compass because where both of them are from, a comment like that would have ended a lot worse.
Those two need to hug it out and move on.20 Reply
I bet he wasn't saying anything when August Alsina was deep in them walls, or when his wife said on national television that he "can't satisfy her". Will Smith is a cuck. Of all people, he decided to attack the comedian. Future said he wanted to meet his wife after the "entanglement" interview. FUTURE with 13 baby mommas. Will didn't say a goddamn thing. He's a punk.
To anyone saying Chris crossed the line, I don't care if someone cusses your dead grandma, you do not put your hands on them. There are better ways to handle situations, especially if you are a grown ass man with so much to lose. If homie had any bit of self-respect, he would've left that train wreck a long time ago, and if he didn't because he wanted to stay for the kids, then at least he would've dealt with the consequences of being with her, without lashing out physically on people who make jokes about her. Yes Chris made a hair joke, so what? Will was laughing. Minute he sees her rolling her eyes, now he wants to wear his big boy pants and act tough. What a joke.20 Reply
+1 yWhile I am definitely not above husbands slapping other men for defending their wives' honor, my only issue with this situation is that Will Smith shouldn't have done it on stage on live television, as people's reactions to the fiasco could result in Will Smith being seen in a negative light. Instead, he should have slapped Chris Rock when the show was over. On the plus side, Will Smith's slap did make the Oscars entertaining and memorable, as I honestly never had an interest in watching the Oscars in the first place. Will Smith already underwent a lot of hell and ridicule because of the "entanglement" that his wife had with another man in the past and clearly reached his breaking point with the jokes. Some people might think my opinion is tasteless, but so was Chris Rock's mouth after that slap. I'm sorry, but the whole thing was just hilarious to me.

Is this some Oscars crap? Does anyone even care anymore? Anyway, Will Smith is a known cuckold. I would completely f*ck up a guy who's mentally weak enough to let his wife sleep with other men. That is no man; nor is his worthy of respect. That is a weakling and a coward.
I don't know the context of what happened here, but if it was a real punch and not a friendly tap, then I would've kicked Will Smith's cuck ass across the stage. At that point, after he let Jada and her feminist friends emasculate him on camera, it'd kind of have to be done to save your own reputation.
Also, what kind of pussy of a man slaps another man? Unless he wanted to like, duel him at noon or something. Or unless he was Rick James. Those are the only two exceptions.

I'm disappointed to see so many people are saying Will Smith was in the right here because a comedian told a joke. Like I said in another comment (after researching more about what went down here), if we really want to live in a society of "do whatever you want to anyone who offends you," then I 100% would win in that society of Cancel Culture Purge world. I hate most human beings and I'm strapped. - +1 y
My point is, only weak people resort to actions like this.
Then again, we've known Will Smith is a very weak, bitch-made man for a while, now.
Even women have said that about him after he let his wife cheat on him, and then dog HIM out for her cheating.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=slZ1GaB2li0&t
I think Will Smith is not in a good place. He thought the joke was funny and was laughing at it, but obviously this got him in trouble with his wife. He changed his tune quickly. I think the slap had more to do with mollifying Jada than any sort of offense that was taken. This is a man who is dominated by his wife. She, for reasons of being an “empowered woman,” openly has affairs with other men, has publicly said her husband doesn’t satisfy him in bed, and expects him to be okay with this. And he says he is. Very progressive... very feminist... No. It’s pathetic.

+1 yHe’s been a target by his ‘jokes’ in the past and also by other comedians targeting him and family.
I’ve seen a pub comedian get dragged off stage and thumped for taking piss out of a larger barmaid, her husband in the audience took offence.
Those who think it was wrong.
what if it was say a white comedian who commented on her skin colour as a joke, would that be grounds to thump him?
The point is (assuming not staged which it does not seem to have been), a guy had just slagged off his wife.
i do think Will Smith either pulled his initial punch or changed it too a slap or similar.
As he spent a lot of time doing Boxing for Ali (a while back )10 Reply
+1 yHere are my thoughts. It was a distasteful and outright rude joke! He did deserve it and it was not fake or part of the show. Sadly, it also shows Mr. Smith's arrogance and anger management issues. To confront him on stage like this was very inappropriate and the Oscars need to do something about it! It has been reported that LAPD asked the Rock if he would press charges and he said no. I do feel the Rock needs to apologize to Mr. Smith and his wife as well as the Oscars and public. Mr. Smith should lose his award!
11 Reply- +1 y
If this is inappropriate, then one should not watch how Ricky Gervais hosts something. All feelings would be destroyed there. lol
It's a joke. You laugh or you walk out. Heck, Will laughed in the beginning.
How should will react? Instead of yelling profanity and taking offense, he can stand up, declare how much he loves his wife regardless of what is happening on her, and could've said - "maybe I can join the cast of GI Jane?"
First of all, it's a joke. The host is there to make jokes and rip on people. If you can't take that, don't attend.
Second, the joke wasn't even that mean. GI Jane is a badass.
Thirdly, he laughed at the joke at first. And then he got all 'angry' when his wife looked upset? Pick one. Either its funny or it's not. Fake as fuck.
He could have brushed it off. He could have adressed that joke in his speech and mentionned it was uncalled for if he felt that way. He could have ripped on Chris Rock. But what he did was just pure low, so trashy.00 Reply- 442 opinions shared on Trending & News topic.

Sportswomen don't, and even womens sports at risk.. Women having their gender slowly eroded now as well.
It seems like a pretty fake and planned thing. Will Smith is a great natural actor and the Oscars have been on the decline for years, you need something to talk about the award. Therefore, it was probably agreed.
I analyze the thing for what it is. The moment "a joke (horrendous imho) I respond with a slap" does nothing but legitimize the slap as a response to the word. It is a thing of a huge gravity. Because it gives reason to those we later call "monsters" when they give us a slap, when violence touches us closely. When we talk about free speech, we are referring to this in particular. Smith's is an assault on a person who is, by the way, paid to tease you.
If it wasn't planned and there was no contract to do it. Furthermore, he should be prosecuted and convicted of assault. Since the thing was broadcast worldwide and the aggression is obvious. As far as I'm concerned, Smith should lose the Oscar he won and should no longer be cast.00 ReplyTypical toxic masculinity behavior, it's not surprising.

So you think its okay to make unprecedented jokes about someones kid? That's the kind of shit that almost had Eminem almost kill another rapper who used his daughter's name in a diss track years back. Chris crossed a line he shouldn't have. He had no business making jokes about someone else's kid.
- +1 y
Excuse me, it was his wife not his kid. Regardless, it was a line crossed that should not have been.
- +1 y
So, when in a high emotional state, a woman slaps a guy due to something awful he said... is that "toxic femininity" ?

Normally I disagree with her opinion however there is a point here he's possibly could charged with assault especially the evidence is on national TV they can make jokes about him negatively his wife is a bitch was all this effort she could leave them anyway despite all the effort to keep his reputation so you have to look at worth is it worth losing weight I don't if Will Smith got the Oscars he could lose all kinds of backing and for what for a toxic female I am not dissing your house wife mr. Will Smith but sometimes there's a reason why there's greener pastures because they really are greener.
- +1 y
@emiku It's fake. Will couldn't hold in his laughter almost after hitting him. And you again? Don't we have fun? This is Will and Chris showing libtards coming out of the woodwork to bash Chris. Don't be offended for others or me. This is comedy gold. Indeed I do have alopecia.
+1 yI genuinely don't know how to feel about it... It was very uncomfortable to watch, on that we can all agree.
I believe we should be able to joke about everything if the intention isn't to hurt someone/a group or push your political agenda... If you say something offensive and there's some truth to it according to the speaker, it becomes mockery.
But Will has the right to stand up for his wife. Was slapping Chris warrented? I don't know, nor can I say how I'd react in Will's position... What matters here is that for Will it was justified, and his wife definitely didn't appreciate the joke either.
I disagree and agree with both sides.00 ReplyIt was pathetic. I see all these people acting like its justified when it isn't, he assaulted someone on live TV. If my partner did that it would be such a turn off to see them act so immature.
Sure, the joke was in poor taste. Say something intelligent, stand up for your wife verbally. Dont be a complete idiot.
The only time I would be ok with my partner throwing punches for me would be in situations where I was assaulted by someone or something much more serious like that.10 Reply

I have a lot of clients with alopecia and I know how devastating it can be for them. that was a very insensitive joke. When I watched the footage I felt so sad for her.18 Reply- +1 y
Funny seeing how many women suddenly support violence when it's to defend them, even against something as innocuous as a hair joke. That said, there is more to this story. Chris Rock made a joke about Will Smith's wife a few years ago for boycotting the Oscars for being "too white" when she wasn't even invited in the first place. Some black celebrities came out in support of Will Smith's assault.
- +1 y
I'm not sure why you thought I was talking about you. I guess that's what women normally do whenever a man says women. I was referring to some other women that replied.
- +1 y
I think Will Smith feels like such a small man now that he feels the need to step on stage and prove he's not. In the end, it was just a hair joke. Considering that they both worked in comedy, Willy Boy should be the first one to shrug off a joke.
- +1 y
I don't think that's the case. I am a hairstylist and I see people with alopecia a lot. Men and women. I know how embarrassed they are of it and how upset they get when they talk about it. I've had clients who have cried because of it. So from my point of view I think do Will Smith has probably seen his wife upset and knows exactly how she feels about her hair loss. And how uncomfortable she is with it. I think that hair comment really sent him over the edge. And I think Will Smith knew exactly how his wife felt. And I believe that his heart broke for her. He felt like he needed to defend his wife. That's totally okay but I think he did it in the wrong way.
- +1 y
If you see their first reaction, Will is laughing at it and his wife is obviously annoyed by it. What happened in between when the cameras turned, we don't know. I assume he looked over at her, saw how irritated she was, and knew that she would never let it go. Afterall it's not the first time the couple was publicly ridiculed. In the end, it's still just a hair joke. Jokes are usually made at other people's expense, that's how comedy works. The reason people like comedy is because it lightens the mood about things that would otherwise be heavy to talk about. All real comedians realize and accept this, but Will Smith is not a real comedian. He's an actor that plays comic roles.
- +1 y
I don't feel sorry for her, I would have stood up and bowed to the master, Chris Rock, he might supplant Dave Chappelle as the GOAT. I have alopecia. Suck my nut suck, this is comedy gold.

@SmokyOne At least publicly he CLAIMS they have an understanding and an arrangement.
The 'truth' is a moving target and evasive.
When I was in an 'open marriage' it is ALWAYS easier for the female to acquire Suitors but I had three friends with benefits companions over the seven years, she had four.
I saw it through a YT video by some Australian comedian called Isaac Butter (something).
I was f*cking shocked. Not that Will Smith slapped Chris Rock (I don't think him always playing the good guy means he's above assaulting others), but the fact Will Smith strode up on stage and walked away so confidently, shouting and cursing at the Oscars. He wasn't taken away and was still given an award.
I hate the double standard toward celebrities. 🤦🏻♀️03 Reply- +1 y
So true. It's such double standards.
+1 yTwo things are VERY wrong about that.
1) He stuck his face out as if he was ready to get hit and
2) Will Smith played the role of Muhammed Ali, one of the greatest boxers ever to have lived. If this was anything but a publicity stunt, don't you think he would have instinctively clenched his fists before smacking him?00 ReplyI believe he smacked him, not punched him. I didn't see it when it happened. Honestly, I wasn't even aware the Academy Awards were happening last night. Shows you how irrelevant they are these days.
Chris Rock made a rude and tasteless joke. However if pressed I would say Smith was more in the wrong. The *only* thing that warrants violence is threat of life and limb. Jada was under no such threat.00 ReplyI'm so on the fence about this. On one hand the joke was fucked up given that Jada has a medical condition. On the other hand did it warrant Will slapping the absolute shit out of him? All I can say is Chris Rock has an iron jaw. That man stood his ground. 😂

yeah. tbh both of that was wrong. the comedian made a joke about her illness knowingly and it's tad offensive but im also not with the fact that will smith slapped him. i mean there are better ways to deliver that the joke was offensive. i love the fact that he himself found it funny at first but when he saw his wife feeling uncomfortable he went to confront and smack chris. respect to him for continuing with the show after that awkward moment though.

+1 yI don’t agree with either of them. Jada Pinkett Smith has a medical condition that made her lose her hair, and joking about it is really insensitive. So I understand why Will was upset. But to get up and slap him on live tv in front of everyone? Maybe not the most mature reaction…🥴

Pretty lame actually
911 opinions shared on Trending & News topic. Was that real or a stunt like professional wrestling? Because I see Will Smith laughing about it 15 minutes later when they talked about it

I was thinking that. It just might be an act.
Asker+1 y@dustybiker what would the publicity stunt be for though? Surely a leaked sextape or something would have been more acceptable

It might just be two actors having a laugh.
looks staged. they knew this would get peoples attention and views and it worked

He has an issue with his wife's name coming out of someone else’s mouth, but is fine with someone else coming in his wife’s mouth.
