I understand there are those who love their guns. I get it. And they feel like the second Amendment is absolute. As one person claimed, "they had a God-given right to own firearms."
Something has to give. The Constitution and Amendments thereof were never considered absolute. There has always been much discussion as to whether the second Amendment was speaking about gun ownership or that of a militia. Even beyond that, the Constitution can be changed and regulations can always be put into place.
Caskets are still being prepared for ten year old children and there are more mass shootings. Even those who as right-winged as can be has to start agreeing that the status quo is not working. Guns are far too easy to obtain and the power they yield make it far too easy to take multiple lives. It's time to reduce -- if not totally eliminate gun ownership in the U. S.This time the body count continues in Oklahoma. It's simply time to take away the firearms.

The thing is, killing will not go away, Shaun. This is something that has become too normalized for me to really be affected. That does not mean I don't have a heart. Is it unfortunate shootings happen? Yes. Do I feel for these families? Yes. However, it doesn't faze me anymore. There is a pattern whenever this happens in terms of a shooting all the way to politicians trying exploit a tragedy to push certain agendas and target certain ideals that in turn put people against each other.
@MrShaun, The problem with that line is we have proposed solutions. But the anti-gun lobby doesn’t want any solution other than complete gun bans. And if they can’t have them then they won’t support anything. So we’re at an impasse.
Dude, children die on a daily basis not just here, but around the world as well. I've seen some fucked up shit not just on the internet but in person involving children. I find it interesting how we dont even pay attention to kids on other sides of the world and instead focus on some dumb celebrity bullshit which lasts for a week or so. The only time people do something is when it falls into their agenda and benefits them. Do you think most of these anti gunners and politicians give two shits about kids? If they did then child protective services wouldn't be in the shitty state is in right now. Every politician has always made gun control their main cry into getting people to vote for them so they can finally sit in that expensive cozy chair in the White House and become the (number) president of the United states. Once they passed gun control, do you think they are gonna do anything else that would actually benefit us? Like free health care, free college, or fixing the legal system in this country?

A lady on this site told me, when something doesn't make sense; you are looking at from the wrong angle. These shooting didn't happen years ago before certain politicians and powerful gun control organizations started pushing for gun control. Also, these types of shootings don't happen in Switzerland and Mideast where gun are very available.
Also, after every one of these shootings, gun control organization and some politicians crying crocodile tears start clambering for more gun control. Also, throughout history, powerful people committed false flag operations to gain more power. The Reichstag fire that gave Hitler so much power is a prime example. If, at my age, I can make the connection, why can’t you?
I sincerely think that first of all there’s a problem of education: there are countries with a lot of guns and firearms also in Europe (such as Finland, Serbia, Switzerland) but no one hears about mass shooting there. So I basically think the problem isn’t firearm ownership but people mind. It has to change people way of thinking that everyone is the sheriff of itself. Civil countries has policeman and law officers to protect people and no one is required to defend for itself! Maybe it’s an inheritance from the Far West times when there were foreign enemies, undiscovered lands and dangers everywhere, but I sincerely think the man self defence logic is the real problem.

You could make guns illegal and people would still be able to obtain them do you think any of the bloods or crips guns were obtained legaly seems they can get them easier than I could Im not sure what the answer is but our rights are being taken from us. I looked into what our local police had purchased from the military and the numbers were staggering its like m4's and m16 were bought in such great numbers that There should be a audit to make sure they are all accounted for and when they come up short which im sure they would. Our local police bought these wepons by the thousands where are they? They made the information of the purchase of these wepons avaliable but do they really know where these wepons are
We need to do something about guns in this country. I agree with you that I know people love their guns and I believe they should have every right to own them. But there is clearly an issue of people who are mentally unstable being able to purchase them. We need to have more background checks and laws to make getting a gun more difficult
Getting rid of guns is not going to stop mass killings. You don't think like a criminal if they don't have a gun. They'll find another means of doing it. A car can be a deadly weapon within seconds so don't tell me getting rid of guns is gonna solve the problem.
You all realize that if current laws were followed. The president’s drug using son would have been denied his hand gun purchase in New Jersey. He probably has a fifty state concealed carry permit because of his father! So. Do we need more laws or enforcement of the ones that we already have?
Maybe the authorities should be encouraged to look into people who want to buy a gun, rather than just trust them not to lie about their drug use or sanity? Better background checks. I agree. Definitely a good idea.

The American people have no interest in changing gun laws. If they did there would be mass protests from coast to coast demanding more gun control. Most of the anti - gun chatter comes from the media. We could have a 100 mass shootings in a week and people will not change.
If you don't like guns leave the country and stop malding over it on GAG. 100 of millions of people have been BUTCHERED in the last 2 centuries alone. Armenian genocide, WW2, Bosnia, Rwanda etc. etc. And the reason they were able to be butchered is because they had no weapons or guns to protect themselves.
The only way to stop this is to politicize it, because our politicians are the only ones with the power to stop it, limiting who can get guns may not stop the violence but I’ve it much easier to stop a guy with a knife from killing dozens of people than a guy with a assault rifle
The right to keep and bear arms is a God given constitutional right. When you have problems to fix in a society you have to do it without violating the rights of law abiding citizens. The root of the problem is deep social disease, and until someone decides to fix that I am uninterested in discussing solutions.

There is video of this has surfaced on Twitter. It was NOT a 'Mass Shooting' but rather a gunfight between at least two people with handguns of different calibres, that was obvious from the sound track of the video.

And to make it clear that guns aren't the issue. You can own guns in my country (the laws are a bit tighter, but still) and not a single mass shooting has EVER taken place

More seriously, have two or more people vouch for a person's suitability to have a firearm, with criminal (or at least civil) culpability if that person commits any crime involving a firearm. Require insurance, so that the victims (or their families) get paid.
It's true that the Constitution can be changed via the amendment process. So if there's enough interest a new amendment will be passed. If not, then we know there wasn't enough interest.
