It would only be a feel good move, there are many other weapons out there that are just as deadly if not more deadly than that style weapon.
So those that are bent on destruction would just use something else as has been used in the past for mass killings.

Saying "33,000" guns deaths per year is inherently dishonest at best. When you include suicides you are attempting to claim owning firearms makes people commit suicide or lets them. Yet multiple nations have high suicide rates and almost complete bans on gun ownership.
