Am I the only one who thinks the new gun law and eventual banning of abortion in America are just appeasements offered by Democrats before Midterms?

I feel like the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act to basically ensure everyone (who's safe) can get a gun in America, and the repealing of Roe vs Wade and the eventual banning of abortion in America (and let's be honest, it's going to be banned everywhere but the Blue States; you're naïve if you think otherwise) are basically gifts to quell an angry public, so that there won't be a "red wave" in the Fall and massive exodus of Democrats in Midterm elections, due to the Biden Administration and others' massive incompetence.

I feel strongly that these are just bribes. The conservatives will be "happy" enough to not rage out all the Democrats, despite the rising gas prices and non-stop inflation. Am I the only one who can see this for what it is? Or am I wrong?

Keep in mind, I think the repealing of Roe v Wade is a disaster that will have disastrous long-term consequences most people seem too stupid to realize. It'll set a precedent for overturning all sorts of things in the Constitution down the line and we live in a day and age where it'll be harder to undo the damage or cancel those future decisions. And I think the gun law is just an empty promise that doesn't do anything for either side of politics, but makes everyone seem like they "got their way."

Is there something I'm missing here? Can someone fill me in? Are these not just mere bribes and fake "olive branches" from the Democrats to keep their jobs or what?

I think you care but I think you’re wrong. I think more Americans are more concerned about the general Konomi and gas prices and then they are about Roe v. Wade especially when they realize that blue states will keep illegal there will be a variety of states that have some restrictions but not all restrictions. And ultimately and their own state they will be voting Democrat or Republican in the federal level I think more people are looking at gas prices in the icon made then whether not Roe v. Wade was a over turned.

I will say I love how Democrats are trying to paint the fundamental right to abortion and should not have been overturned I should a plus versus Ferguson not be overturned by brown versus board. Every is stuck to President as to the black letter law than we were still have separate but equal in the United States. I’m sure you’re not advocating for Black people going to one school and white folks going to the other I know this because you’re not an idiot and you know what you’re talking about. You also know what I’m talking about. Ultimately this comes down to a state race issue between a federal government issue which one should have more power? I say states

Pretty sure regardless of what party was holding power before a midterm and can see the writing on the wall will do whatever they can to maintain it and their seat if things are not looking good.

Dems have laid a colossal turd these past two years, so this is self preservation rearing its head as par for the course in my eyes. End of the day, we will see what unfolds. People are going to vote for them regardless because of party affiliation, tribalism, because it is a D beside their name not an R, G, L, etc. and what not, so let it play out and go from there.

I agree with you, but frankly, I thought the Democrats were too arrogant and stupid to pull a strategy like this. I guess even THEY can see how much of a f*ck-up it was to put Biden in the White House.
