GOP? That terminology speaks extremely loudly like Democrats! And yeah TX is full of them!
I think history books should tell everything the way it happened - good OR bad! History is just that - history. We can easily learn from the stupid mistakes as well as the smart decisions that were made. Wiping out statues, just because someone owned slaves is complete bullshit!
In 100yrs, someone's gonna wanna take down a statue because people used gasoline cars. That's the stupidity of the left.

History should be factual, even though some people don't like facts. If history is rewritten, then it's no longer history. It's fantasy.
If they're embarrassed by history, then they should use that knowledge to make sure the present and future are better, but we should never hide the parts we're uncomfortable with.
Facts can't be changed, no matter how much some people may want to, and history is a collection of facts: names, dates, places, etc.

Of course not! We should never rewrite history! History should be accurately told as it happened. What kids learn today if a rewritten version or blatant lies and make believe. Our history isn't perfect. America has it's flaws. But the greatness of this country is that, until recent years, the people have continued to try to correct the mistakes made before. That expression, "You do the best you can until you know better" applies. America has learned and changed and done better in our history and that is exemplary! Look around the globe for another country that has been so effective at corrected the mistake while maintaining the foundational principles. The past is real and should be taught so that people understand the sacrifices and hard work it took to keep America a great nation, the greatest ever above all others!
What if the only way for a person to have value or be worthy of love and respect is for them to have never offended anyone, made any mistakes, wronged anyone deliberately or by negligence, and to always change their values and beliefs to suit the loudest voices around them? It's ridiculous ! No living person would ever meet the standard!
The basic term is broad. There are many forms of slavery. Not all is 1:1 chattel slavery.
"Involuntary relocation" sounds like someone's attempt to sound sophisticated, when what they mean to say is kidnapping.
They're claiming with that change of vocabulary that the worst part of what happened wasn't the forced servitude, but the fact that millions were displaced from their homes to support a system that should have never been so reliant on such tactics to procure a workforce.
Otherwise, it's obvious that they aren't calling it trafficking, because they wish to dissociate the slave trade of old from its illegal, sexually predatory modern cousin.
It sounds like academics trying to sound smarter than they really are, regardless of party affiliation.Neil Shanks, clinical assistant professor of middle and secondary education at Baylor University told The Hill that involuntary relocation isn’t an unknown term in social studies—“(it) has relationships to refugees and forced displacement due to violence or ethnic cleansing,” he said.
It needs to be watered down so certain people can stop using it as a crutch to continue to suck in life. Plus I like the subtle knife twisting in the backs of race hustlers. Kind of like payback for "peaceful protest."
https://infomapsplus.blogspot.com/2015/11/arab-salve-trade.htmlSounds a bit like propaganda given your provided:
1: No spesfic details of the plan to discuss or even know what its refering to.
2: No spesfic evidence of it being widely supported Agenda among a political party as claimed.
3: Your using typical trigger concepts which nobody has supported for 100+ yearsThere are people, I'm not kidding, in fact a lot of people from the south have already been taught a bunch of nonsense, like the civil war wasn't about slavery. It's a testimony to how misinformation that appeals to peoples prejudice can convince people of the most absurd lies. Look at Rupert Murdoch's empire of lies. He's done more damage to democracy that any living person.
Yeah that's double talk... but the left does it to. Repubs pander to the right, and Dems pander to the left.
There's a lot of cancel culture bullshit going on. As a white guy you try to be proud of your heritage and American history... and all they can do is throw slavery in your face. So people are getting tired of it, and tried of hearing about it. Time to move on.It smells of doublespeak?
Nah, it is a straight up lie.If you're concerned that the GOP is trying to re-write the history of slavery, I'll help you out:
The Democrat party supported slavery, formed the Confederacy and attempted to secede from the Union in order to maintain slavery.
The GOP opposed slavery, crushed the rebellion and freed the slaves.
Now you know! Isn't history fun!In essence it's a forced vote from 50.- 60 years old Republicans who are on no doubt like Trump early onset Alzheimer's Disease and medical care or treatment for Dementia.
well that's bullshit, cause "involuntary relocation" was just one aspect of that whole slavery thing. the "being forced to work for someone against your will" aspect is totally ignored by calling it that.
It's a Straight-Up Lie. It doesn't even acknowledge slavery by calling it Involuntary Relocation. Involuntary Relocation would be like a Court Order forcing Stubborn Home Owners to move because a Real Estate Developer wanted to build a Shopping Center.
Or how about keep them real (or make them real) so people’s presence at school isn’t worthless?
Patriotism is dangerous. It just causes further divides. History should be taught factually. Nothing more nothing less.
We could make full double speak, politically correct, Democrat sentences.
Like: “the economically disadvantaged were forcibly relocated and restored to a status of servitude to provide a positive cash flow situation for cooperate farms.”Every country already does that anyway. But the U. S. take it to another level probably.
Have you at least attempted to read past a shitty headline?
History is probably already inaccurate being written by the victors so just leave it as is.
At this point yes, whites have made enough concessions it is time for people of color to make more.
Obviously this is not a mainstream view even among conservative Republicans.
We need to acknowledge what we did wrong.
