We see cancel culture is alive and well and even history text books are being re-written in a way that completely out of touch to what really happened. It's like Communists writing a book on how Putin is god's gift to the earth and how Stalin saved so many lives and political opponents. Why not re-write Famous disney movies to show children being openly gay and doing what they do best with them selves exploring their bodies. I mean I think todays History books need to be more inclusive and have less racism in them and just tell one thing it was all the white people's fault.
Wow, that is actually kind of backwards.
I created a thread on Columbus and people were offended about the truth of Columbus' life.
And just like you are whining here. . . some claimed it offends "White" people.
Racism is amazing.
1. Columbus was Italian. He came way before this nonsensical invention called race. So this claim is nonsensical on its face.
2. In this make-believe paradigm, everyone who confronts Columbus over his cruelty has "White" skin too. Maybe you could identify with them instead of Columbus. I mean, why would you rather be associated with the guy who was responsible for rape and genocide than the people who were horrified with his deeds?
3. This is basically the case in every episode in history where there is a great tragedy. Be it the Civil War. . . where more "White" people rose up against slavery than those who supported it. But leave it up to a racist to claim, unearthing the actual history is offensive to "White" people.
4. Even the Jews who were murdered in the Holocaust had German allies. German resistance fighters tried to murder Hitler over a dozen times. There was Oskar Schlinder. And even as the Japanese were guilty of many war crimes, there was Chiune “Sempo” Sugihara, a Japanese diplomat who saved thousands of Jews.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/IyPKaEkp4QMBut we can't go back and study this history not because it is offensive to "White" people, it is because it is offensive to racists.
It is so weird to see people look back at history and find new innovative ways to not learn from it. To be offended not with what was done. . . but with the mythology associated with the folks they idolized being dispelled. When in truth, there are plenty of "White" people who were much more deserving of their praise who are giants when compared these other folks.

I just think it's funny that you went through all of this, just to bring it back "and just tell one thing it was all the white people's fault". That's where you lost me pal.
If you wanna complain about snowflakes, I'm with you on that, but DON'T BE A HYPOCRITE. I don't believe history should be "inclusive" at all, I think it should be the truth to the letter. However, if you are offended by what white people have done in the past to people of other ethnicities, then you are a hypocrite, because that part is objective and it happened. Truth doesn't care about your feelings.
I can recommend you some books if you are interested, but you probably don't care. My point is, look at the full picture and practice what you preach. Don't be a snowflake. If people talk about the history of Jim Crow, it's nothing personal against you, it's just something that happened. Learn from it what you can rather than complain about that "being all white people's fault".
Life is what it is, not a fantasy where everything is beautiful and peaceful. People should be able to find the truth in every book that talks about life and our past. It's not about reading something pleasing that makes you feel good, is about learning what happened and how things are. There's a lot of people that don't like the truth of certain topics, but covering that with glitter won't change the reality of it, we gotta deal with how things were and are, and not cover our eyes every time we don't like something.
Offend is not the point. It should simply be documented properly the first time around. There are a lot of school books that come out of TX, for example (most common place for US schoolbooks to originate, ironically) that are heavily, factually, inaccurate.

Rewriting history or banning books , movies , taking down statues is wrong Hitler did this.
When you don't learn from history history gets related. History is not always fun and nice ! You get both good and bad this is how society grows by learning from the past not hiding it , burning , tearing down , destroying history.
There good people in history who have done bad things and bad people who have done good things.
For example many founding fathers were slave owners this was accepted during that time but as a society , a people , a country , a nation we have evolved beyond that and realize that's it's wrong. And horrible. But now we tare down statues instead of putting a disclaimer next to it staying that society has evolved. So if we keep destroying history how are people going to learn? History is not always comfortable or plesant but it how we grow and become better and learn. History is full of ugly mistakes , and things that are horrible but if we don't learn from the past are we any better? The answer is NOInteresting! Dems have done nothing but scream, cry and whine for the last 7 years about how Trump lied about this and lied about that and you ALL seem to want nothing but the truth (in the meantime, all you bother to LISTEN TO and BELIEVE are LIES!!) but, now, you want to completely change history and make IT a huge pile of lies!! Fucking amazing!!
For as little as the kids of the past 40-some years have paid ANY ATTENTION to history, why bother to teach it to them at all, anymore? Let them become Eloy!! Most younger people on the streets today have no clue who or what most of the most COMMON historical figures and facts even are!!
Where the fuck did you even come up with this screwy idea that history would offend them?
Taking old fictional stories and rewriting them is a time honored and respected tradition. After all, that is basically what Disney is. There are original stories behind things like the little mermaid, snow white etc.. And they are VEEEEERY different. Old fairy tales that Disney usually base their stories on are tragic and dark which Disney re-writes to be bring and inspirational for kids. It is very ironic that the people who complain about historical revisions like this are in favor of Disney when they do it and ignore places like Texas which is actively re-writing history books for education.
You are a massive hypocrite. No, because this is dangerous on all levels. You erase the truth of what happened and indoctrinate people on false events, it only makes us ignorant of factual events and it doesn't make the problem go away or solve it.
The people who wish to hide the truth are the dangerous ones.
History should be recorded as is, If students college/university feel offended by how history is then should seriously rethink the courses they are taking or toughen the hell up because once they leave the protected life of college/university they are going to run into real life where the history will be as taught for decades and it will be them who is out of sync with the rest of society.

Take one single subject - Slavery- North American has been taught one narrative, that the 'white man' is exclusively responsible for the slave trade.
Where that could not be farther from the truth, see the video below for more background;History should be correct and without bias. Rather than say something was white peoples fault we should be naming the people and organisations involved in historical events.
However if an event did affect a group in a major way we shouldn't hide that fact, Nazis sent Jews to concentration camps, black Africans were sold as slaves. Let's not whitewash over things. It would be like in Orwell's novel 1984, where they alter the truth. Although history has always been modified because like they say "History is written by victors".
It would be great to know the whole true, but many part of the evidence or was destructed or it is pretty buried, and even if we get it out, there are things which can be misinterpreted.
Sure, let's tell the little twits that the holocaust never happened or that dictators don't exist and that we all live in harmony.
There are those, often woke, people who believe that we need to make history speak for all races, in these times so everyone feels somesort of connection.
There is idea that white people have a monopoly on history. That everything is white-washed. That whites own it all.
Its dumb. Just add perspectives. You don't have to get to re-writes.
History is supposed to be raw and offensive... If you don't like it, don't repeat it. If we water things down, the raw and offensive stuff gets left out. If we don't teach the mistakes, it's going to happen again... Right about the time some misguided soul thinks something that's already been tried (but they don't know that, because it wasn't taught) is a good idea.
Politically correct and non offensive is the same thing man. But no, American history is taught in a way to paint America as a land of heroes who did no wrong. When white people killed the natives when they slept, it was a great victory. When the natives did it to us, it was a massacre. We’re taught that the stealing and murdering we did was in the ultimate good.
It is unethical to change history. There won't be any "real" history if we're just going to consider the feelings of the students. History may be the harsh truth, but it will always be preferable than a comforting lie.
I don't think anything about history should be re-written to not offend anyone. We can't change what happened and that's what history is for, to learn from mistakes in the past. Just because something that happened is now considered offensive we should know that things were different back then and we got to be mature enough to learn instead of getting offended about everything.
No, I should be an account of what actually happened because much of history taught I schools is a lie.
If you rewrite it, then it isn't history.
It's just a made up story.
You learn from others mistakes that they made and correct those mistakes.
Otherwise you are doomed to repeat them.
You can’t change history, what’s happened happened, if you try to erase that you’re doomed to repeat it.
History facts have been adjusted throughout... 'history'.
Who would care about one other 'adjustment'.
Lies will be discovered anyway. Some soon, and some late.
You can't change history... if you dont like it then you can take steps to make a better one.
If history doesn't "offend" you, you are reading the wrong books.
Don't change a thing tell it the way it was and don't spare anymores feelings
Otherwise the lessons we learned will be lost,
Learn more from our mistakes and failures
True history must not be forgotten or we will repeat it
Learn more
