I haven't watched mainstream media since 1999 and even for like 4 or 5 years before that I was like these people are lying sacks of shit. This is bullshit. That's a lie. That's a lie. That's a lie. I use to point all that out to my parents way back then...
Essentially. They're all slaves to thier sponsors. And if you want to know thier target demographic is all you need to do is watch the commercials during the commercial breaks.

Somehow, despite the probably-common knowledge that all of these organizations are public, for-profit enterprises and equally-common observation that "just the facts" doesn't sell ratings, coupled with the reality that the entire industry lives or dies on the back of good viewership numbers, they were, and still are, considered trustworthy.
Realistically, we all intuitively know what propaganda is--well, "we know it when see it", because it doesn't agree with us, but we are oblivious to it when it does. We can say we want "the objective truth, no spin", but most of us don't know what that means. What does the "absence of spin" look like? Well, here's a better question, what sells more: a dry, verbose rundown of the events of the day or some sensational, scandalous hit piece about what some celebrity did? It would be far more objective, but would it sell? More importantly, would anyone listen? Because if the goal of "journalism" and "reporting the news" is making money (it is a job, after all), and confirmation bias/gossip makes the big bucks, why would media outlets report the "unbiased truth"? The logical conclusion, then, would seem to be that these systems are fundamentally at-odds and that creates a conflict of interest. Up until recently, there were no established alternative media outlets, with which to facilitate that kind of "skepticism of observation". Therefore, there was no counter-perspective and no reason to believe mainstream media wasn't being honest.
However, now that everyone has a smartphone and just about every smartphone comes with a built-in camera with decent quality, this is the case, and social media has effectively usurped mainstream media because it is A) immediate and B) purportedly unedited (we still have yet to see an example of machine learning alter video footage on a mobile device, in real time, in a way that would reasonably discredit guerilla reporting). This makes it much more difficult for proper, large-scale news organizations to record, scrutinize and editorialize an event--all of which takes time and energy that independent witnesses who can record the event, as it happens, bypass.
A broken watch is right twice a day. Musk himself uses the media to manipulate share prices and crypto currency so he can sell high or buy low.
He's exaggerating. But mainstream media has gotten worse over time because now they care more about clicks and money than presenting straight news. But that doesn't mean everything is propaganda. They would get banned from cable in the United States.
Banned by whom exactly? The federal communications commission? Would those happen to be government employees who serve at the pleasure of whoever is currently in charge of the government? I think you can see where I’m going with this.
@Sixgunsound By banned I mean making it harder to reach. For example, Natural. News got banned from Google's search results. You don't see any radio networks streaming InfoWars. Verizon and AT&T dropped One America News. I think RT (Russia Today) got banned from somewhere. And so on.
It's been known for centuries that newspapers lean either left or right and certain ones are economical with the truth. What I don't understand is why people who don't trust any mainstream media are happy to believe some unaccountable guy with a YouTube channel
“Economical with the truth” 🤣
Well, everyone is just doing the best they can Poppy.
There are literally zero people who only have accurate information in their heads, we are all human and we all make mistakes, the best you can ever hope to do is educate yourself and arm yourself with tools of critical thinking etc, check information from various sources and assess the bias etc which exists from those sources in order to form what people describe as 'my truth', which is to say what that person believes to be true based on the information they think that they have.
Some people are more diligent than others and some are better equipped than others but all of us are ultimately alone in our own privately defined version of 'reality'.
After all, I can't even be completely certain that you or anyone else even exists, but most of us choose to believe that the people we appear to be interacting with are real.
Elon Musk is a terrible person for many reasons but the mainstream media are essentially part of the manufactured information of the state and corporations. For sure there is still reporting on real time events and investigative journalism does take place but I’d say it’s about 50/50 with the press releases of state and corporations.
The media and for that matter the USA are owned by the international bankers that own the federal reserve. The media will tell you the correct time, sports, and the weather. However, generally it is one lie after another.
They have always been. People just don't realize it. The more shocking news sells. 10 black people shot by police will sell better then 100 white people shot by police. Why because people are manipulated easily.
I don't agree as HE IS ONE OF "them" too, have you seen the TESLA HUMANOID? Well all these machineries will come for OUR JOBS, LIFE, ENTERTAINMENT, etc
he is part of the mainstream media though...
you would never ever knew about him if it were not for mainstream media, lol
If propaganda means peddling an agenda, then Elon Musk is propagandist.
Musk is an opportunist.
He's doing propaganda himself.
Don't make waves when you sit in shit up to your chin.
Yes. 100%. That picture with the cop cars says it perfectly.
I think Elon is also propaganda. But I see most advertising and shows and movies as some sort of propaganda.
He's not wrong. It's become quite clear that CNN, the NYT, MSNBC, etc., are just the propaganda arm of the Democrat party and Fox News is the same for the Republicans.
It's odd that Musk complains about propaganda when he openly wants to use Twitter to spread misinformation.
Yeah totally, they only show what they want you to see
There is hardly a normal person who thinks otherwise.
I agree... and I personally believe that TruNews dot Com is one of the best news sources.
No he's overreacting
This is as obvious as the light of day.
Yeah I do.
Pretty much.
100%
he's right
