+1 yI am a conservative and I think this is fair judgment. Although Alex Jones sometimes gets it right he had gone way off in conspiracy land (e. g. claiming the Sandy Hook shootings were “staged”) and is overall a complete whack job.
But so far Elon musk is really cleaning house and getting twitter’s shit together. It’s going to be a painful process with some collateral damage. You can’t have a successful surgery without cutting someone open. Also Musk’s slave driver letter to the Twitter staff was over the top. HOWEVER Twitter really was a bloated, far leftist dominated bs platform far way too long. Musk had to bring the hammer down considering the type of people who worked there. This leftist attitude that you can boss around the boss with your feelings and delusional leftist beliefs has to STOP.
For Elon the straw that broke with camels back was when twitter’s 1984ish woke nazi staff banned the Babylon Bee which is a SATIRE website (similar to the onion). Musk was a fan on them and after that he finally had a enough. But musk isn’t a far right activist either. He just wants fairness before all the woke insanity took over.

*Same kind of fairness before all the woke insanity took over.
Social media didn’t start out this way. Once upon a time people more impartial common sense judgment on what should be taken down vs what is free expression. But after Trump won the 2016 the left was hellbent on doing ANYTHING ethical or not to prevent him from staying in. The censorship of the true NYPost Hunter Biden Laptop story was the crescendo of that.

It is going to be difficult to cherry pick who and who can not... but it's Elon Musk's company. It is a 3-6 month transition and every account is a Special Interest group even the individual organism account.
I am guessing Twitter interest will slow down after New Years. High profile Banned accounts, which are not reinstated in the "Happy New Year" will be reviewed again in first Quarter of year assuming Twitter Revenue year is Jan-Dec.

+1 yI'm generally against banning anyone and support the concept that free speech is free speech and should be allowed. However, Alex Jones has been found guilty of numerous felonies, based in large part on his opinion of the Sandy Hook shootings (including many of his tweets), and his Twitter ban is therefore justified.

@UCrayCray Alex Jones was found guilty of defamation. Quite frankly, I'm surprised the fat fuck wasn't sent home to Satan years ago. I suppose watching him melt down is more fun, though.

@supercutebutt
Alex Jones is a POS as far as I’m concerned, and I have never really paid much attention to the shit he spews. But there is a huge difference between being found guilty of defamation and “numerous felonies,” as claimed by @AviatorTom.
No need to fabricate things with Alex Jones. He looks bad enough just being himself.

+1 yI'm not too interested in any of these people.
But what I believe to see is that a mere instrument of communication now is converted (and rated) as a tool for ''censorship''.
Imagine: the national mail service would allow some letters to be delivered - and others... well: not.
Also: courts and judges soon not longer will be needed, as the money-bags will decide over ''us'' what's right and what's wrong.
''Heil Musk''

+1 yYou either believe in freedom of speech or you don’t. Jones has not been charged or convicted of any crimes and never violated the Twitter rules. He was banned for the dystopian reason of off platform behavior long after the Sandy Hook debacle.
50 ReplyAlex Jones intentionally and maliciously defamed people whose children had been murdered by a lunatic, and lost the case in court.
Trump is a sometimes / often misinformed blowhard, so not different than almost any other politician, and really other than being famous not much different from a lot of the people on here.19 Reply- +1 y
They got their money. Justice has been served. Let alex jones back on. Whats with you liberals and putting white males in a virtual prison.
- +1 y
@randomguy1032 Troy is not a liberal; he is just smart. Alex Jones had some guy show up at a pizza shop with a gun because of his lies and bs. Pizza gate scandal.
Sure everyone gets the freedom to speak up until you start slandering, harassing, and getting people hurt.
And if I were Musk, I would not let him back either. He lied, and now people harassed him, and people show up at pizza shops with automatic weapons. I would not want to be responsible for his foolishness. If he does some stupid and one of his lunatic followers kills someone, twitter will get shut down.
Of course, Alex Jones knows what he is saying is stupid, but his followers are insane people that show up to pizza shops with guns.
It was a smart business move from Musk not to give him twitter back. - +1 y
it is ok to make fun of people who have been murdered, so it should be allowed on twitter
- +1 y
@007kingifrit But that is not all he was doing. He was slandering the families and inciting violence and harassment.
So there was a guy telling everyone you're a pedo, you lost your job, and people harass you and beat you. You can't find a job anywhere because everyone thinks you're a pedo, you think that's okay for the guy to lie about?
It's okay to joke, lie, and troll when it is done funnily, yes, but lying to people and pissing them off is not good. And that is what he was doing.
You can joke around, but slandering people, harassing and inciting violence is not okay. Most right-wingers would agree. That's no better than being a radical leftist. - +1 y
Yea sorry but nothing you said is true, you're quoting news agencies and the sham political theater of a "trial" he is being put through with a lunatic judge. You don't belong on the conservative side if you take such important issues at face value from what headlines you read. Disappointing
- +1 y
@MaxRobespierre doesn't matter. all legal. all allowed
- +1 y
@007kingifrit Yes, it does matter. The left calls Trump a racist a this a that, and he gets kicked off Twitter. People who support Trump get beat in the street. Or Antifa punching people in the face and suppressing free speech.
If you think threatening people and forcing people to lose their jobs because they disagree with you, then you're the same thing as a leftist. Black lives matter is rioting and hurting people.
The right is against slander and lies. It supports facts and logic. Alex Jones, I know he's not stupid and doesn't believe any of the stuff he says, but his audience does.
If you look at Hitler, he took over all of Europe, but it did not last long because he was super aggressive and violent. You start slandering and mistreating people because you disagree with them, and you will lose all your power in seconds.
Elon Musk is not stupid enough to put Alex Jones on Twitter because he knows Jones's followers are unstable and will get his new businesses shut down by the FBI or law enforcement. And that hurt Votes for Trump. - +1 y
@MaxRobespierre if you aren't a leftist you support online hate speech, end of discusison. alex jones is allowed to say w/e he wants
+1 yAlex Jones is just straight up crazy now. He's been broken by stress or something but he is no longer useful as a reliable source of information. We didn't let Charles Manson just freely speak whenever he wanted right?
Alex Jones is very clearly not all there anymore and he has. Cult like following. It's time to put him in a retirement home

+1 yIf we purport that the US justice system maintains only a modicum of merit, then keeping Jones off social media is probably the right choice. If there’s no merit left to our justice system, then let’s tear it up and burn it down, right now. Otherwise, go buy some “tucks” for your hurt butt. Ell oh ell!

jones was never given a trial by jury. and it was a civil court anyways so he was never "convicted" of anything.

+1 yJones has a right to his opinion. Left say lies , but Left lies about the fantasy called global warming. They said most of US would be under water 10 years ago. Never happened.
10 Reply No he said no permanent bans so he should keep his word, might need to wait to unban some people before the tools to handle them are in place thought. So I give him some slack right now.

+1 yYes though it is hypothetical as actual murders have an account
20 ReplyA broken clock is right twice a day, and fortunately he’s right with this one. Then again, with the internal turmoil of Twitter, I doubt it’s going to remain a relevant topic soon anyways

Anonymous(30-35)+1 yI as a conservative support the decision. Jones was convicted in a court of law, so there is justification for upholding his ban. Not so with Trump.
10 ReplyWhere is the logic in unbanning Trump but rebanning Jones? It's all completely random, like the way he runs the company.

14 Reply- +1 y
that is a violation of our freedom of speech, social media must be considered too important for the constittuion not to apply. nobody can "own" twitter.
- +1 y
@007kingifrit: No. Your freedom of speech extends to the arena where the government can't tell you what to say or not to say as long you aren't trying to incite violence or making threats trying to get someone seriously hurt or killed.
Twitter is a private owned network. Your amendment of free speech right isn't protected over there.
Either you obey Twitter or any other website code of ethics, leave or get banned. - +1 y
