Why was the Wienermobile immobilized?

The Oscar Meyer Weinermobile was recently immobilized because someone stole its catalytic converter. That's a common auto crime in the United States... thieves take the catalytic converter and sell it for scrap, making more than US$100 each, due to the expensive metals inside the catalytic converter.

The catalytic converter is an important part of the exhaust system and without it, it's very difficult... and illegal... to drive.

I've had my catalytic converter stolen years ago. The vehicle did not run after that I had to buy a new one. There should be some kind of alarm on it to alert the Police that it was stolen by someone.

It's sad that they stole the Oscar Mayer weiner mobiles catalytic converter. That car's been around a long time before catalytic converters. I wish I was an Oscar Mayer weiner and everybody would be in love with me.

But still in the catalytic converter from the Oscar Mayer weiner car that is terrible.

Geeschh that is pretty gutsy for someone to steal the catalytic converter off of the Weinermobile. This is a sad epidemic of crime for these to be stolen. It is rampant in some areas.

It doesn’t immobilize it at all, and vehicles actually run much better without cats but yes it might be illegal depending on where you are
