How are you preparing for hurricane Hilary?

I’m not doing anything I’m just with my mom at home.  we are too broke to afford fly to another state for the day lol. but I see on my phone it just says rain 60 percent all day? How is that a big storm?

The good news is that you have been downgraded to a Tropical Storm & you shouldn’t see winds above 74mph however if your area is prone to flooding have a plan. As for me I have been through five hurricanes & a few tropical storms & although I haven’t seen the big one I always have a plan. As for me I always shelter in place, gas up before the storm & I have hurricane boards to protect my windows that are on a quick connect system. Every time a hurricane comes you know who your friends & family are because the phone always rings & people check up on you. I always tell my friends & family I shelter in place because I don’t want to sit on some highway as the storm rolls over me. As for my hurricane supplies I usually buy Booze, Batteries & Condoms.

I lived in North Carolina through 2 x hurricanes... this is not a real and true hurricane. I mean it stayed offshore mostly, it only a tropical storm. But mud slides are the biggest danger, and that is only because its California. For the East Coast Hilary is a walk in the park.

We ran and filled the gas can for the generator. Checked the generator to make dure it starts. Pulled down our hanging plants and whatnot. Charged up our portable cellphone chargers. We're in Utah so not expecting anything more than a heavy rainstorm and maybe some high winds.

i mean storm doesn't "necessarily" have rain. also 60% rain forecast does not mean there's a 60% chance of rain where you live. it typically means it will rain in 60% of the specific area that the forecast was made for.

also do you at least have a cellar? xD

It wouldn’t hurt to fill your bathtub up with water in case there are problems. Perhaps a quick store run although it will be mobbed. Get some peanut butter and such that can be used without refrigeration along with batteries and perhaps candles. You should have emergency items already but that takes some preplanning.

It turned out to just be a all day rainy day lol unless you lived in Riverside county or the mountains. LA county was basically unscathed
