Communist always vandalize historic sites. It's part of their revisionist history to deceive people. One of the most common narratives of communist is the anti-colonial narrative. @Soteris they weren't colonised by Christians. People converted to Christianity, the Roman Empire already had conquered the region and the Roman empire was a multi-ethnic multi religious state. First Christians were Jews, Egyptians and Greeks.
The only Christian colonisation of the period before the Islamic invasions was the vandals who orginated from Scandinavia and they were Arian Christians, part of Scandinavia's long history of invasion, conquest and colonisation.

As far as I understand it the pro-palestine protesters are being peaceful where as the counter protesters continue to clash violently with both the pro-palestine and the police. I dont particularly care if you agree with a protest or not but it does not surprise me in the slightest that the counter protesters are mostly the ones being arrested since they are there to cause a scene and be violent.

Having 0.001% (give or take by my napkin math) of a protest doing something is so insignificant that it does not mean you can apply it to the group as a whole. It is an outlier of and outlier and does not detract from the fact that the protests were peaceful and respective when taken as a whole.
