Easily: he's a former advisor TO OBAMA. You know, the guy who campaigned on promises of undoing Dubya's grotesque anti-Constitutional actions, got elected, and went to EXCEED them, even going so far as to create straight-up bills of attainder, despite those being clearly and unambiguously prohibited by said document? If Dubya had done that, it would have still been awful, but he'd at least have the excuse of being an idiot. Obama, on the other hand, was a CONSTITUTIONAL LAWYER. It makes perfect sense that such a person would choose advisors who were as bastardly as he was.

"Liberal" doesn't mean "in accordance with the platform of the Democratic party", or "different from Republicans"; it means holding to a specific set of beliefs that Obama mostly didn't (and probably still doesn't). I mean, show me a Democrat-run city or state that's liberal when it comes to guns.
