What are your thoughts on today's attempt on trump's life?

As of now, nothing has been released about the would-be assassin.

Do you think it was done out of pure hatred for the far-right tea party that the GOP has become? Was it hate for the individual that Trump is?

I'm conservative on many topics. Ironically, I've always been for stronger gun control which seems to support more liberal thinking.

Gun control wouldn't have helped in this scenario any more than it has worked in Chicago. Ex presidents have the same level of protection as a sitting president.

U. S. presidents (current and former) have the highest security on the planet, yet that has done nothing to prevent assassinations on Lincoln or Kennedy or attempts like those on Trump. Trump still got shot despite the secret service, police and military (yes there is military protection as well at these events and they do not wear uniform).

As for the motivation behind the attempt, it was probably not a lone person acting. There is more behind this attack. Roof tops get checked routinely during campaign events. Whoever did it had to go through a lot of measures to be able to even get a bullet near Trump. This means others were involved in the planning of this attack to be able to set up the opportunity for the shooter. Those others had to have some type of power behind them to be able to help this shooter get this opportunity because not just anybody knows the EXACT spot that has the best chance of hitting a president and getting past his security.

Also the timing of the attack. No attempts on Trump's life occurred the entire time these sad excuse for trials were being waged against Trump. Yet there, magically, happens to be an attempt on his life THE FIRST EVENT after these sham trials are starting to fail AND despite secret service and military protection? Not a coincidence.

Whoever is really behind this planned this attack for some time, but waited out the trials to see if the political persecution would work so they do not have to try to kill Trump. As soon as they sensed the persecution is going to fail, they take their first opportunity to try to kill him.

A bit long-winded, but I think my answer is obvious. A high-up Democrat is behind this. It would fit into 2 Democrat objectives: Kill Trump AND at the same time try to build another case for gun control so they can eventually have power without opposition.

From what we currently know of the shooter (most of this is still unconfirmed) points to him being a registered republican voter. I have long predicted (since Trump first ran for president) that Trump would be assassinated by his own supporters because he hypes them up and promises things to them just to use them. This will leave some amount of them feeling betrayed or disillusioned with him and some of those owns guns and have mental issues.

In my mind this assassination attempt, as well as more to follow, was always inevitable. Trump was playing with fire and now he got burnt. What he has been doing is dangerous and I dont think he himself realize it.

I can't say I'm surprised. When you have the media screaming into the madhouse for 8 years straight that Trump is the worst human to ever walk the planet, it's only natural to assume that one of the nutcases would take things into their own hands.

Let's also not forget about Democratic Congressman Bennie Thompson's bill to remove Secret Service protection from Trump.

It’s sad, but you reap what you sow. The sympathy vote may secure him the Presidency. Recall that he’s actually been trailing slightly. All the more wonder why Democrats aren’t following the leader. On the positive side it may influence some on gun control, but unlikely. The wild card is how you play the identity and motivation of the shooter.
