Has inflation been all bad?

Seven Eleven stores have announced that they plan on closing 450 underperforming stores. They put part of the blame on declining cigarette sales. They say that sales have declined 26% since 2019. I think that when people can no longer pay their bills they start to do without things that are not necessary.

Maybe inflation has encouraged people to stop smoking.

Bidenomics is working.

Inflation is just devaluation of a currency. So if you hold the currency you automatically get robbed. If you want to trade for foreign goods, you have less purchasing power. If you invest in local tangible assets you stave off the bleeding. The only winners in inflation are central bankers that loan out the newly printed money from thin air and collect interest on their ponzi scheme. Everyone else looks at rising real estate prices and says wow look how much my house is worth today I'm getting high returns even in a shitty economy even though it has becomes harder to sell that home because people can't qualify for a mortgage as easily anymore, but I'm sure I can withdraw my funds and buy other things I need at any time... There's no risk whatsoever!

Nah people around me roll their own so don't buy the expensive cigarettes.

But shops closing due to inflation or crime indicated how awful democrat rule was.

The propaganda is "artists against trump or ex democrsts against trump" nobody found anything good about harris!

They call anyone not voting harris a misogynist, like "vote to prove you aren't" but how many in primary DEMOCRAT VOTERS voted for lady? Almost none.

Liberal Democrats pushed to legalize marijuana, which is now legal in a majority of states, and where it's not, the penalty for possession has been reduced. If you can get a buzz buying weed, cheaper than cigarettes, why smoke cigarettes?

Meh, that's bullshit deflection as tobacco was not their sole breadwinner. More likely they are trying to justify restructuring and avoiding the tax bill as "losses" on the balance sheet.

@DrPepper12 I always said that raising to cost of cigarettes to over 10 bucks a pack did more to get people to stop smoking than all the phony baloney programs that the tobacco companies had to fund.

I hardly ever see people smoke anymore. I think that it really became not fashionable about the time it became 10 bucks a pack.
