It's happening today in South Carolina. Someone out there says firing squad is more humane then lengthy injections. Can you believe that. There are 5 states that can carry out a firing squad today. Comments welcomed.

Thousands of people worldwide are given intravenous injections to render them unconscious in hospitals before surgery every week. So why is it so difficult to do that in prison? It's the same with euthanizing pets at the vet or slaughtering animals at an abattoir, we've mastered the quick painless death yet we seem to struggle so much with humans.

Lethal injection isn't the same as anesthesia. In lethal injection, the poison paralyzes all muscles, but the brain is still active and supposedly capable of registering pain. So you are basically awake as you suffocate.

The nervous system does not shut off quickly. He will be well aware until that stops regardless of choice of death. Being asleep is the only way to shut off consciousness thus awareness.

He had the right to choose the execution method: lethal injection, electric chair or firing squad. He reasoned that a lethal injection might not actually work, citing other states where lethal injection had to be done multiple times, causing pain to the inmate. He also reasoned that he didn't want to be cooked in the electric chair. In his mind, firing squad was the most direct and quickest way of causing his death. And it apparently was.

I believe that executions (whatever the method) should be done in public and streamed on the Internet, for all to see, not just hidden in a closed room with a small number of witnesses. If we, as a society, cannot do that, then maybe we should think twice about executions.

I don't understand your point. They compassionately gave the convicted murderer a choice of lethal injection, the electric chair or firing squad and he chose the finding squad. Apparently his reasoning was that the other methods sometimes result in a slower than expected death and additional pain, whereas a firing squad is more likely to be instant.

What's the issue? Is that not more humane? It beats the way that the Democrats murder millions of babies in the womb who go through untold suffering and torture before they die. What choices are THEY given?

You make no distinction between an innocent person and an evil person. I'm pro innocent people, and there is no more innocent a person than an unborn child. And I'm pro death penalty to provide justice for guilty people who prey on innocent people and to deter others who would choose to prey on the lives of the innocent.

I do believe a lot of people get incarcerated for bullshit since we have the most court cases & court hearings / procedures than any country on God’s green Earth which is upsetting. A lot of people are misdiagnosed and a lot are mentally ill which should get a second chance by being in a mental healthcare facility.

I could go into detail about a lot of my opinions, that is just one.

as I understand, the jurusticions in the US that permit lethal injection purchased their the drugs from European manufacturers, but the European Union (that has a charter banning the death penalty far all of its members) banned the export of those drugs in 2011, and interestingly, no company or government enetity in america is maunfactering those types of drugs either

With the correct injections its no issue , a much better idea than firing squad , surely we've moved beyond that? Its an outdated ludicrous concept that FQ would even be allowed.

Well, I mean, at the ned of the day, that is what he chose to do, and they aren't gonna die immediately; they are supposed to pass out within 10 seconds, which is when they do feel pain regardless that is why they place the target so that it's the quickest way of death.
